Actually there is a reasonable selection.
Aria.co.uk has the MSI 945GT Speedster on very special offer by the way.

Yes. I do that all the time. EDIT: Chipset fan is quite noisy by the way, contrary to what the reviews say. I replaced it with a Mini Kaze, but it doesn't spin up at 50% (as this board, unlike some, doesn't start at 100% then reduce to 50% - it starts at 50%). So I have it set to 100% constant speed...

I got this board a few days ago and I am well impressed.
Hopefully it will be G31 or G33 instead of 945G next time!
And if that is the case, I am going to be spending more money...

I have 3 Phantom in my home.
One bought in 2005, one bought in 2006, one bought in 2007 (second hand).
All still working great!

At one point I thought one had failed, as the PC illustrated all the symptoms one would associate with a failed power supply... but it turned out to be a failed PCI slot!

It isn't available in the UK yet. I bought it from CarTFT.com (Germany). The price is only a few quids more than I would have paid buying from the UK. Their website is buggy but the customer service and delivery speed is very good. As for RAID, sorry I wasn't being specific enough, let me try again....

Hi, I was in a similar situation, and I just upgraded my home server from a lowly VIA EPIA M10000, to the very new Intel D945GCLF2, which I am very happy with. It's got a dual-core Atom 1.6GHz, on-board Gb LAN (finally), and two SATA ports. The power usage is about the same as the D201GLY2 (I have a...

Hi, Thanks for the comments. When I say "upgrade" I don't actually mean going out and buying new parts - I am fully aware of the issue of energy needed to produce new parts, that's why I would never buy a brand new car too. When I mean is, I already have a big collection of parts (some rather good a...

Hi. I once had a similar problem (but I was worried about heat rather than power at that moment), and in the end I found that it was caused by indexing. So make sure indexing service is switched off. Thanks.

My spec - cut my power usage please?

Hi all, I wouldn't say I am exactly a "green" person, but I try my best to help. In doing so, all my PCs are built with low power usage in mind. But it has come to a point where they still aren't good enough, so I plan to upgrade them. My goal of the upgrade is to achieve an even lower power consump...
