one of the big manufactuerers i think simpletech, makes an 8 GB 2.5" IDE flash drive. The 4 gb one was only like $4k or something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shock: i looked at their website but the document is pdf and they want u to regester before u look at it-just so tyhey can spam u-F*CKERS

the firewire 800 spec will allow some ridiculous length of wire, so putting a few 2x40 deltas in it, and putting it in the other room is an option. also network attached storage could work

the heatsink may need to be snaded down in the corner on a aiw because of the tv tuner. you may lose the oc, but not the scilence

oc system has an enhanced oced video card that has the zalman heatpipe thingy on it. with a quiet panaflow, it culd still keep its oc, and if u backed the oc off, it would be almost totaly fanless. u can get the cool in different colors too.

personaly, i'd get a r300 and put a zalman thingy on it. the AIW radeons usualy come with fans. oh, and matrox didn't blow it with the parhelia, its the best card on the mrket at the moment with it's triple head

actualy they can't take type 2. if there is one that can, a pci ramdisk would work. i'd recomend backing it up to a remote HD because if there power goes out, the data goes too. on the other hand using a ups can help.

if u have the $$ just geta cf ide converter or two and stick a 3GB cf in it. then u would have a totaly NO MOVING PART pc. soft jbod would be good, riad 0 wouldn't do much with the spped of flash memory.

it must be the hd, because my dell 4100's hd is as loud as an airplane, or so it seems. there are only two fans, psu, and exhause and they are both very quiet. cd-r sounds like its about to blow the case to bits, tho w/ it's shananihans. good thing it only is working <1% of the day :D

why?? a cd-drive only spins when it is working, about 1% of the time. deal with a tiny bit of vibration and noise f/ that one mine a day it actually spins up.
