Antec Neo HE + Asus A8N = Not working?
Since people seem to have a problem when combining the Antec Neo HE and the Asus A8N at HardOCP, I'm wondering if anyone is running this combo and has it working?

Unless you are going dualcore. Isn't the dualcore 939 opterons alot more expensive than the 3800?Mats wrote:afrost: All overclockers with S939 in mind should get an Opteron, but I guess you all know about that already. There's simply no reason to get an A64 for overclocking, except for availability.

PSU: Perhaps Antec Neopower HE? Modular cables and straight through fan design. CPU: 3800+, these overclock very easily to about 2.4-2.6 GHz on default voltage, which is 4600+ speeds. Of course, you can buy a 4400+ and overclock as well, but it doesn't have as much headroom. The extra cache on the 4...

Yes, space is the main issue, even though I'd like to make sure that the fan never turns on since it's (from what I've heard) not very quiet. Perhaps I should go for the Neopower HE instead, really like the idea of modular (sleeved) cables.. now if it would only come to Europe (Sweden) soon I'd be a...

Phantom 500W fan removal
I've read everything (almost) posted about the Phantom 500W here in the forums, and have seen tantalizing hints (from MikeC) about removing the fan from the PSU, and still be able to retain the warranty. But when I look at the SPCR review of the 500W, it seems like the warranty sticker sits partly o...

I can't fin scythe fans in sweden, any suggestion on retailer in europe? I just ordered one from this german retailer: http://www.pcsilent.de/en/index.asp 580 SEK including delivery. They had some problems with their creditcard payment system though, so it was a bit of a hassle. Don't know if it wa...

Hmm, interesting... In the article SPCR's Hard Drive Testing Methodology it says that standard 3.5" are powered from both the 12V and the 5V line (mostly from 12V?) and that 7200rpm 3.5" HDs draw 20W+ on spinup. Worst case scenario is that it draws it all from the 12V (no clue) which would mean some...

Thanks alot for the answers. Yeah, I'll overclock the processor whether I get a venice 3000+ or a x2 3800+. I'd like the X2, but it's costs three times more than the venice. The reason for 2GB RAM is that I play BF2 which is a real memory hog, on my current rig (1 GB PC3500) it takes up to 1 min unt...

Not sure if this is any help (not owning a P180 myself yet) and not wanting to be a smartass, but perhaps you have overlooked the toolbox location?

*bump* Anyone? Additional questions: In the SPCR article "Power Distribution within Six PCs" it says that the hard drives draw it's power through the 5V line, but I've seen elsewhere in the forums that it draws through the 12V line? Which is correct? Does anyone know the correct maximum power draw f...

You cannot monitor speed or control speed if the fan is directly connected to the PSU, unless you use an intervening Fan controller. Some PSUs (like the Antec TrueBlue) have temperature controlled fan-only connectors that can be used to control case fans. Not great, since you don't have any fine tu...

New rig needed
Hi, lurking days are over I guess... been planning on upgrading my rig for a couple of months and now my old PSU (Antec TrueBlue 480W) died and forced me to switch to my backup Chieftec 360W. Unfortunally, since I was running all fans on the temperature controlled fan-only connectors on the TrueBlue...
