Yeah so I've noticed :( Seagate not so quiet. WD was far quieter but I got a good price for this 400GB so I took it. And my older WDs started making this really horrible whinning noise after 2 years of use. My next harddrive for sure will be a Samsung but I'm having a hard time finding a local retai...

Wow thanks whiic very well detailed answers. Thank you thank you :P I guess I'll leave the setup as is then. Because the current seek noise is no different in my hand. The sound is still better than when it was in the 3'5" drive bay. I can finally sleep without a loud HDD waking up in the middle of ...

Hello Chris, The AC model's RPM are on the high side for a really quiet fan, but if it is like a Yate Loon medium speed, it might also work fine at 4.5-6v -- maybe 800-900RPM? Yeah at 5v they spin at about 800 RPM. Still pushing more air than the Nexus. Only bad thing is that these fans don't have ...

Elastic Suspended HDD [Question]
So finally decided to Elastic band my HDD to the 5'25" drive bay. Here's the model of my HDD: Seagate ST3400832AS 400GB SATA. After having the elastics attached I was quite impressed by the results but still not impressed enough. My Question is this: 1. By doing this method is it suppose to get rid ...

Well out of those three I personally like the Arctic Cooling. I'm using right now, and it undervolts really really nicely at 5v and is barly audiable. It even pushes quite a bit of air when I put my hand infront of it at 5v but I'm sure it can be just as quiet at 7v. I stuck my 120mm AC fan in the 5...

I have had 2 WDs in the past. Cavier SATA and Cavier SE SATA. Both were 160GB and both are now pissing me off. My older Cavier 160 GB SATA started making a whinning noise after 2 years of use. It's a really low pitch whinning noise that I doubt most people will hear unless you're about 1 meter away ...

Well I recently bought my board too and played with temps and fan speeds on this 80MM fan I have. I noticed that with an intake fan infront of the HDD it rougly drops the temps of the HDD by 5-7ºC, that's at 5V. The fan I'm using a CoolerMaster 80mm Fan that came with my case. Although I'm sure wit...

Since you are both using Asus boards, read your manual, and look to see which Chassi Fan Plugs can be controlled by your bios. There should be 6 (including the CPU Fan) that can be controlled by Asus AI Suite. Just go into your bios after plugging them in. Make sure it reads both fans, and after tha...

Asus Q-Fan [Question]
When I select Asus Q-Fan to Silent Mode, does anyone know what voltage it's going at? Because from eyeing my 120mm fan in the back it looks like it's spinning faster than when I volt mod it to 5V using a Zalman volt mod cable.

On the P5W DH Deluxe, I have AI Quiet and CPU Q-Fan Control for the CPU fan, Chassis Q-Fan Control for the chassis fans, and PWR Q-Fan Control for the power fan. Oh I've tried using those, and those do indeed change the fan speeds. But they don't let me pick and choose how fast I want the fans goin...

In your BIOS, do you have automatic fan speed control turned on? I forget what the options are called, but I think they're in Power -> Hardware Monitoring. It took me a while to figure out that was keeping SpeedFan from working with my P5W DH Deluxe, but now it works fine other than ghost fan repor...

I have a P5W DH, a close relative of the P5B. I noticed that sometimes SpeedFan has trouble with the fan sensors if PC Probe 2 is not running. To address this, I launch both Probe 2 and SpeedFan at startup, and turn off all the displays and sounds on Probe 2. Also, you should check the divisors in ...

P5B Deluxe SpeedFan Not Working!
Does anyone have this board as well and has Speedfan working? In my User Manual it says that it has SpeedMonitering on 5 of the fan connectors! It would be great if I could use them with speedfan. But right now my SpeedFan only reads the CPU speed correctly (But can't change the speed of the fan at ...

I'll try swapping the two sides today! If it really works a bit better I'll get some acoustipack or nexus damtek padding for the side panels and just completely seal off the holes. (Which is better anyway? The acoustic seems like cheap foam I can get out of Hardware packaging o.O And the Nexus Damte...

What if you threw the 80mm fan in the front at 5V? Or if it's not quiet enough, get a quieter 80mm fan at 5V. That way you get a little more airflow across your HD. Which is probably all you need. Otherwise, I agree with what everyone else has said. Is there a reason you put the extra 120mm fan in ...

I've been drowning myself in decision making between the two coolers and I can't seem to pick one >.< I won't be doing any overclocking. So keeping it quiet is my main concern. Seasonic S12-500 Clicking Noise
Well I've gone through every fan in my case. And my S12 is making this weird clicking noise. I'm not sure if this is what Ball Bearing fans do because the rest of my fans are either Sleeved or Fluid Bearings. Now my questions are: 1. Is my S12 fan broken? or do they normal making slight clicking noi...
