The XP-90 fits on a LGA775 motherboard WITH the LGA775 retention mounts. Effectiveness on a conroe however doesn't best the stock intel cooler by much unless you use a fan that can push alot of air at the expense of noise. For me, using a Nexus @100% vs Panaflo @50%, the panaflo gets 3 degrees less ...

thought i'd try something out...

While playing with my case this morning I realised the stock cooler on the 8800gt exhausts hot air directly towards the vents on the P180 so I thought I'd make an airduct to to allow the air to get out of the case. It does the job, you can really feel the hot air being pushed out of the case. Of cou...

What would I be checking? CPU temp differences or case? Pretty all your temps. I doubt it would affect your CPU too much however if its anything like mine. Its more of a trial and error thing for everyone. What works for you doesn't necessarily work for you as theres too many factors to account for...

Q1. Try putting an exhaust and see if it helps bring down temperatures. Dont use it to blow air into the case. In my case, prior to changing to my 8800gt, blocked or unblocked, fan or no fan it didn't do much to temperatures so I just sealed it off prevent dust from dropping in since I didnt need a ...

That looks extremely tidy. I'd like to do something like that with my old P180. Nice work. Thanks. It'll look more tidier if I bothered to sleeve the cables but eh... why not fit your zalman vga cooler on the 8800gt i believe it would fit if u have the right mounting for the 7900 series. i know the...

Help me choose a new motherboard please :)

Hi, Can anyone recommend me a good motherboard? I currently run a P35-DS3P. My goal is to get a better motherboard thats close to the same price range as the DS3P and use that motherboard as my gaming rig, and the DS3P can go into the new build which is only for work (its for my sister). I don't min...

While you may not like these temps, they are perfectly acceptable for many a GPU. It seems like < 100C is generally good enough. This is probably why the fan controller sees no need to speed up the fan. Chances are you're right considering power usage of hardware these days but its still worrying. ...

According to the intel spec sheets ( http://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/designex/31696803.pdf ) if I'm reading the right thing, max thermal temp is 106 degrees, but doesn't exactly say whats safe. Also, for DS3P owners, do any of you guys know where the sensor for the board is? From what I re...

33C is absolutely fine for idle... for a northbridge, 50C is acceptable, they can get much hotter, especially during gaming, so don't worry about that too much. you could get an aftermarket cooler for that 8800, but would it really be worth it? in terms of noise, i'd say yes, but it may not have mu...

Help me with my temps!! Long post.

Hey guys, Need some help with cooling my system down. Just today I went off and picked up an 8800GT and its a scorcher of a card. Under load the card settles around 79-80degrees with the fans set at 45% in Rivatuner (91degrees if I leave the card to control the fan speeds). Loud as too, after I spen...

I'd prefer knob to control my fans over something thats overly expensive. Rather use Speedfan for software fan control. Anyway, are you able to just pull the LED on your controller off? And can't you just pull off your knobs and look for shorter replacement from electrical stores or make something y...

Speedfan simply detects the third I/O chip output, but can't check if it's connected to actual hardware (which apparently is non existant). And yes, it does suck balls. Who, in their right mind, in this time and age, would put a fan header WITHOUT possibility of regulation (be it voltage or PWM). I...

I'll jump on your boat if you can beat the prices of the place I currently shop at, coolpc and computercity @ $8 shipping. PCCG is too expensive for my liking. Also Nexus fans would need to be cheap too, I can get 120mm for $21 shipped from UK.

Auto speed control. Just set the min and max @ 70%. And set the min preferred temp to whatever you want, and set the max temp to something sensible. It will crank up to 100% once ur max temp is ever reached but thats not a bad thing anyways.

Speedfan detects a third controller on the DS3P board. I don't get why its not enabled. Sucks balls. Guess I'll just get another one of them fanmates for my exhaust to compliment the one I currently have controlling my intake. I used the SYS_FAN2 header to regulate the temps of my hdd.

you might want to remove that grill on top of your CPU HSF. Yea I was thinking of that but it stops dust from building up on the heatsink. I don't do regular cleaning of my computer. Besides I'm OK with the temps I'm getting atm. Core2 e6750 clocked at 3.2ghz temps are, core 0 57degrees, core 1 57d...

Hmm, I removed the door and temperature remained the same throughout. Most likely cuz I'm not pushing enough air in the first place. I'm using the tricool fan running on low. What I did find that helped tho, prior I taped up the side vents because I read that it will be good for over system cooling....
