I cutted out the rear grills on both the PS and the system fan. I also cutted out a big slot on the side of the PS and seal up all the other holes. i will be opening up the case where the PS slot is so it can get cool air from the outside. As of now, the ps fan doesn't speed up even after 12 hours o...

Will F@H client use all available processors on a system?
I have a dual celeron doing nothing. I'm thinking about running F@H on it. Will the F@H client use both processor or just use one of it? If it just use one, can I just run the client twice and assign each processor a client to run?

I have used Dells and IBMs. I currently have the IBM T23 but I like my Dell Latitude better. The reason is that the Dell have a Windows key and it had the option of using the touch pad or that little touchpoint or whatever IBM calls it. They both are feature rich, so you can't really go wrong either...

42 C safe for HD?
I have a maxtor and WD HD 7200 RPM drives. The maxtor is running at 42C idle. Is that a safe temp? I have heard a lot of people said they are in the mid 30C. I haven't check out the load temp yet.

I really think Tom (or who ever is running the show) at THG doesn't read anything and just site behind his desk. A good example is the responds (did a search on THG and couldn't find the responds anymore. It was display clearly on their main page last week and now I couldn't even find anything relat...

Re: Testing is good...but...
I'm sorry, but there are just too many variables involved to assign an effect of 1 or 2 degrees to a specific change. You could see a 5 degree change in temp from one test to another without changing anything. For that matter, if 5 degrees is important to your cooling setup you need a complete rede...

Re: Airfow
I am, however, very curious as to how one of our intrepid cohorts can say with such athority that it would give you 1 or 2 degrees improvment, or that it would be worse by 5 degrees or so in "suck" mode. Sounds too much like numbers drawn from thin air to me. These numbers are not out of thin air b...

Thanks. What were the fans' specs? dBA? RPM? CFM? Sorry, don't have the specs. It is the low RPM from SVC. It is model 3110KL-04W-B19 12V 0.06 A. At the end, I got slk-800a to replace the volcano 7 because I just couldn't deal with the temp. My cpu and load temp drop by 5C and it idles at 52C w/ th...

Those temp looks like what I have. The case temp is a little high but it all depends on where the probe is located at. Remove the intake like someone already said. The intake is creating too much turbulence and is keep the heat inside. If feel you need the intake fan, try slowing it down - 7 or 5 vo...

I have ok experience w/ it. I had a cu volcano 7 that had a 72mm (?) fan on it. It was way too noise even on the low speed setting. I use a 60 to 80 fan adaptor with a low speed NMB fan. The temp was better the low speed setting by a 1 or 2 C. The was quieter than the low speed but not a quiet as it...

Re: ducting Mod
Anyone know if this will make any diff with a SLK900 and a bit of duct tape to seal it on? Just curious. http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/ductingMod.htm You'll need a way to mount it on the SLK900, but it should help a little 1 or 2 C. As for tring to set it up for sucking, as is, it lo...

They sell the mobile AMD on Newegg but I don't know of any motherboard that will recoginze it and use it properly. I have also heard that some of the AMD mobile cheaps are just standard AMD chips that is under volted. So you could just get a motherboard that will undervolt to something like 1.1 volt...

It looks like some of the fans are in the middle of the case. This should cut down on the noise verse mounting them at the back or the front like the PCs. There weren't any mention of the fans going all the time or not. I would think they would start only when the temp reach a certain temp and they ...

You can change the voltage on AMD processors!
That's right! Even if you don't have that option in your motherboard. You can mod the pins in the CPU.

Anyone have first-hand experience on this? Is the third wire a tach? The 3rd wire is not a tach. It is use to tell if the fan is running or not and not what rpm it is at. Wow! How'd you find that out? What is your source of information? I don't recall where I read it from. I was researching the fan...
