Do you have a spare PSU?

Unplug the one you want to work on and leave it unplugged for a day or two.

You're just snipping wires and splicing new ones in. You're not sticking crap into capacitors...

My CPU Runs between 55-61C depending on what I'm doing. I've only got one exhaust, and that's my PSU. Of course I have the PSU with two fans, so my hot CPU air is removed instantly. Too low of voltage makes fans do that...I'm sure you can find more info on specifically why if you run a search in the...

Zalman is definitely a progressive company who really understands how to remove a hazardous object (noise) while still allowing for normal (sometimes better) performance.

I have no problem giving them my money.

If the CPU is rated for 80-85c, what are a few degrees when you're @ 56-60c?

My CPU runs @ 60c without any problems.

True.

I've been thinking about taking my Zalman off and replacing it with either a panaflo or Stealth since it would be much quieter...I guess I like the airflow supplied right now during the HOT summer months.

Yeah, chop the front where the two fans are and stick a 120mm up there if possible.

I like how the drives are at the bottom, where they can get their airflow to remain cool (when you're cheap like me and don't use A/C in the hizzy).

So you have the 92mm that was sucking the air off the CPU removed? Why? Too Loud?

My enermax moves so slow that you can't hear it if you tried.

Very stable though, considering I make it my only exhaust.

Doesn't Zalman have specs on what cooler will fit what card? I'm not into the heatpipe solution until I build a new PC with an AMD64, so I haven't done much but look at them superficially. I can't recommend the product personally, but there are plenty who can. Maybe run a search in the forums for 98...

1. Get the Heatpipe
2. Get the Zalman Bracket (I use the 92MM @ 7v, but you can slightly hear it...maybe a Pana would be better)...

I agree. It wasn't a very scientific method of measuring anything. I always loved the performance and reliability of WD but was swayed to the Seagate camp after finding this site and compulsively updating my machine all the time. I admit, it still isn't silent, but It's come a long way from the WD d...

I've had the ungodly experience of two WD 7200 80GB drives in the same area code...They nearly drove me nuts until I replaced them with two Seagates (120GB V and 120GB 7200.7). I might add that the 7200.7 with the 8MB cache is easily the best overall drive I've owned.
