I've had two. Both failed in a P180 with good cooling (YL @1350rpm). Better to buy a normal fan cooled psu with high efficiency. Many of them are really quiet. Seasonic, Corsair, Ocz or some FSP based one. My M12 is a dream when it comes to cable management. Modular cables and they are long enough. ...

Are u 200% sure u have to change case? The change would gain u little. Unless u move a lot as Lian Li is great for lan party goers. Can u not get/borrow some equipment that makes the move easier instead, so you don't have to carry it in your arms? You have to stuff a Lian Li case with at least 10KG ...

The best thing to use for Al cases is 4mm thick BITUMEN. I think it's a petroleum product much like tarmac (asphalt) so it's black and a bit like clay and is really HIGH DENSITY. It's used to quiet the engine room in cars and in the cabin for those that have high wattage sound system. So you get at ...

Not sure if anyone else is familiar with this software, but m0n0wall works on a number of integrated PCs, most of which are fanless. Some examples EDIT: Obviously this isn't all that interesting for you, Poodle, but I thought I should throw it out there. Also, frankly, I don't think that underclock...

If you also know what chipset is the cooler of the two: Via K8M890 and Nvidia Nf6100/410 please let me know . i don't know specifically, but generally via are considered slightly slower and much cooler. i know my 6150/430 is running rather hot. i've felt the need to put a big zalman on my 6150 alth...

What case are you going to use?
Not relevant. But if you really want to kow, it's actually gonna be built into an Ikea steel case. So space is an issue, hence the uATX. I guess that I could squeeze in a normal ATX but uAtx would be better.

What about you get a nice matx board, with a mobile amd or a sempron, and undervolt and underclock. My e6 sempron 3400+, does 5x200 at 1.100volts. I can lower it from windows to 0.875. Thanks Thanks... but I have to ask if you've actually read the whole thread? I've already got the 25W Sempron as m...

I've done some of my homework now. ...When it comes to Linux and freeBSD drivers on both the Nforce and Via chipsets are quite pathetic really. I don't not what to believe but it's not good. The situation looks like users with these chipsets are hoping/begging for drivers. They can run the boards in...

Re: AMD seems to be lesser power consuming cpu then
I'm looking for a cpu for my new server. The server will sometimes be very busy (reason I need a dual core), but mostly idle. It seems the AMD will be the more cost consious choice with these specs. Sounds like an interesting article. The support for Linux and other BSD on Amd chipsets is quite thi...

What a pleasant surprise! You wouldn't expect ASRock to pioneer mATX undervolting would you? From the manual pages of both ALiveNF6G-DVI & AM2NF6G-VSTA: http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/7223/clipboard02cu1.png It's says the same thing for the 754 version that I might use to my mobile sempron. :) ...

Thanks everyone for all the great input! :D I really want to do like you Omega and get a firewall that will last and have headroom for 10 years. Thanks OmegaEntropy. You know a lot about this stuff that I don't. I know about the danger though about having both firewall and fileserver as one system and I've actually been considering running two systems: One firewall and one fileserver. I was just being cheap ;) Are you saying that the firewal...

Xeon Quad Core on socket 775 seems more efficient than C2Q.
I've been laughing at the Kenty's power consumption. Maybe I was wrong?
The chip isn't on phase change but is water cooled. So no sub zero temps.

Advice on Low power Firewall/fileserver powered by Picu+Edac
Hi ya! First: Thanks for reading this post! I'm about to build a Linux Ip tables based firewall and fileserver (probably Devil-Linux) and I could need your input. :) My wish list: 1: Really low power: max 100w including: * 4 Samsung T 400GB hard-drives, (10w on load, each) * Raid-controler * and som...

Sorry for letting this thread sit idle. I don't like to report my readings until I'm sure they are 100% stable, but I haven't been able to do the full gamut of tests because I've been busy. Also, I was having trouble maintaining stability at totally stock settings (i.e. defaults) at low voltage. So...
