I've removed numerous NB47's and NB32's. They come off rather easy. Half the time I just pinch the tabs with my fingers.

And v3n's using OCZ VX. It's guaranteed safe and warranty's good up to 3.6v ;)

It's because of their marketing.

I mean if you think about it....

Their fans are what? 22dBA? If you're 35 feet from your tower. Obviously you'd also need a remote!

On a lighter note, Jennifer Love Hewitt is in Maxim this month so I must excuse myself for a few moments 8)

Hehe I've been a MaximumPC subscriber for years now. They usually put together a pretty good rag...but their editors always have needed a bit more work. It's quite common to see 10 comments in the front of the next month's mag on all the mistakes they made in the previous issue. Nobody's perfect and...

Post some pics of your chipset cooling with the DFI and the 6800GT. I'd love to see what you come up with and who knows I might switch later ;)

Seasonic Super Silencer 460w has 25A on the 12v rail, it's 24-pin and has SATA connectors. A good idea for a new PSU and should power all but possibly an OC'd 6800Ultra SLI rig ;)

I don't know why freshjuice wasn't happy with his D12SM-12 fans. Mine are almost identical in noise to the SL-12's. My 2 Nexus 120's are just a tad quieter throughout the voltage range than the SL-12's but they definitely don't spin at the same RPM's. I'm very happy with my SM-12's and will be using...

don't know if you can find them near you or not, but I got my Coolmax Taurus 400w for $38 U.S. from Newegg. If you can find one they're great PSU's for the money. Appear to be Fortron based models with a 120mm fan. Very quiet PSU and stable rails.

Hey, I just thought of something. I wonder if you can just use the lower PCIe x16 slot on the DFI board for the graphics card. Then it would all fit nicely. The passive chipset cooler, the vga silencer, it would be perfect. Time to go check the online manual. Let me know if this is a possibility, b...

bah didn't know the booster wasn't compatible with 24-pin systems. be careful with vdimm mods. I read a few posts at Xtremesystems that said if you vmod the chipset to handle the voltage increases better that the increased 3.3v is killing Winchester on-die memory controllers right and left. might be...

Just a head's up..

the Asus A8V-E and Soltek aren't Nforce4 boards. They're Via K8T890 chipsets.

I voted for MSI out of your choices, but my favorite Ultra board by far is the DFI. Too bad the chipset location makes silencing the chipset fan difficult.

Edit: By the way, does your motherboard not support dual-channel RAM? Mine does and uses DIMMs 1 and 3 in order to have the RAM in a dual-channel configuration. Not sure if it makes a difference, but you never know! The MSI Nforce4 boards use 1 & 2 or 3 & 4 for dual channel. His is running dual cha...

Maybe I should go with a Super Silencer for my Nforce4 rig..

Few things you might want to consider... 1) The Zalman CPU heatsink CAN be modded. Quite easily too with a Nexus 92mm fan or 92mm of your choice. I've modded mine with a 92mm Evercool (Don't recommend this btw) All you need is to cut the frame from the fan (easy 1 minute job) and some good strong do...

A first look at Epox...which looks a bit better designed than the rest as far as clearances go. If those caps above the CPU area aren't tall, the XP-120 should be mountable. Dunno about the graphics/chipset area, but looks to be not that bad. http://www.ocworkbench.com/ocwbcgi/newspro/viewnews.cgi?n...

Well one good thing I did read about the new A64's and NF4 boards on XtremeSystems was that they actually perform better with lower HT speeds. So if you can get to say 250 HTT then you can use a low LDT like 3x and still get great performance. This should help keep the chipset a little cooler. I'm p...

edit:

VNF4 Ultra / non-Ultra not XP-120 compatible, can't go past 240'ish FSB without chipset heat failures.

no word on Gigabyte boards yet.

*sigh*
