Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?
I was using the case mount at the front of the P182. So the distance was pretty big... many inches or a foot. But i ducted the VGA area (to seperate it from the CPU area) so i thought there would be enough air flow which there wasn't. I am currently trying bringing the fan closer as well as using a...

Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?
did you have to glue/tape that foam down that holds the fan? Nope, friction alone kept it in place. Good enough for wheeling the rig around the house, but you would need to glue/tape it down for shipping etc. :) I tend to change video cards quite often, and the GTX460's in there now are short enoug...

Re: Side Case fan on Accelero S1/S2?
I had previously tried to use the front middle fan on my P182 ( by the GPU) to blow air over my passive accellero with my 5770 but it didn't work out. I attempted using baffles etc as well but no luck. I've had exactly the same setup as this, hell even two 5770's in Crossfire, both with Accelero S1...

I can understand why a shipper wouldn't like the Solo's suspended drives. But, you won't have UPS monkeys turning your case upside down. In practice, the suspension can be tightened enough to hold the drives in place. You can also use thumbscrews in the sides of the hard drives for extra security: ...

Re: Scythe Quiet Drive 2.5
If the Scythe Himuro Mini is anything like it's 3.5" counterpart, it will be all metal, and do nothing to reduce noise. The rubber mounts will also be too hard to be useful. I tried the 3.5" version a couple of years ago (using a Samsung Spinpoint F1 750GB), and it actually made the hard drive noise...

What case are you using in the first picture? The case looks very small though you've accomplished to make it look very neat. Thanks. :) It's a Silverstone TJ08 (not the TJ08-E unfortunately, that came out a few months after I finished the rig). http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: Radeon 7870 OC w/ S1 Plus - Fast, cool, and quiet!!
I'm going to have to look into pulling the heatsink and card up a little bit to the top of my case. The weight of the cooler and two Slipstream fans is causing a little bit of sag in the card. Probably nothing to worry about too much, but something that can easily be avoided. Easy fix mate. You nee...

So, you have to be careful to never ever buy something that isn't "custom" and you would know this how? Look at the photo on the box. Also make sure to read/watch reviews, and ask others who have already bought the card. I'm using a Gigabyte HD6870 SOC (3x fan Windforce cooler), and it is exc...

Re: Super silent graphic cards!
How can HD 7950 and HD 7870 be so quite compared to all Nvidia cards?! In that video, both the 7950 and 7870 were using custom cooling instead of the reference AMD/Nvidia blower style cooler. That is why they were significantly quieter under load. You would get a similar result with an Nvidia card ...

Re: Question on Fan Control on Afterburner re: MSI 6870
I'm using a Gigabyte HD6870 Super Overclock. With MSI Afterburner, 28% fan speed is extremely quiet, and I have it setup to max out at 40% fan speed under load.
Be careful not to go too low though, otherwise one or both of the fans will stop spinning.

Re: Looking for case with top chimney vent cap
You'll still get dust wafting in through the gaps, and especially through the honeycomb vent at the back of the PSU. How about a Demci Flex filter for the top vent? Easy to clean with a damp cloth, and uses a magnet to attach itself. You could use some magnetic strips to stick to the top of the case...

With the H80 and H100, all you need to do is slow the pump to below 2000RPM. Should be the same for the H60:

Re: Ginormous CPU coolers?
Hmm, kinda weird hearing that after several years of using ginormous CPU tower coolers. :) Perhaps they do disrupt airflow a bit, but their advantage is mainly the use of a large 92/120/140mm fan that, combined with a large heatsink surface area, can spin slower and quieter than traditional stock he...

One of the dumber things in this design are the front ports in the little peek-a-boo window on the front door. I carry around a very well-used USB flash drive on my key chain. I could just see plugging it in, as I do every day, then needing to access the optical drive behind the door. By the looks ...

Re: Revolutionary Asus dynamic fan control?
This can be achieved with PWM based airflow control driven by the CPU temperature and there is no need to monitor GPU temperatures directly. Fair point, but I also would prefer if the case fans had the option to respond to GPU temps rather than/as well as CPU temps. For my setup (i5 2500K at stock,...

A possible alternative to silicone grommets if you don't have any suitable ones to use:

Well it'll either be 43x43mm or 53x53mm. If you're thinking of using the Accelero S1, it supports both sizes, so you won't have a problem. But if you want to make sure, what you can do is compare the close up photos of the PCBs from Techpowerup reviews. Compare the mounting hole pitch to the length ...
