Re: Low frequency resonance/ thrumming sound
Woohoo it worked! I had some pics of how I did it, but accidently deleted them :( Will try and get some new ones done soon I basically used wider and flat style elastic of about 12-13 inches in length, and lopped it from the upper holes to the lower ones and did a standard double cross knot - not to...

Re: A list of positive pressure cases?
What annoys you? The deep case design. Harder to place in the room, and a lot of cables from my Seasonic M12D power supply are bit of the short side to reach the front mounted drives. If they had tilted the design to be more vertical it would have worked better IMO - especially since the connection...

actually since when all the drive slots are out, it's an empty box anyway - save the 5.25inch bay for my SSD http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/3060/img2590sm.jpg and it looks like you can loop the cords through the top to hang the drives sideways vertically http://i.hardware.fi/storage/pictures/the...

Re: Low frequency resonance/ thrumming sound
Since the FT02 has vertical airflow, I might try removing that bottom drive cage and suspending the drives sideways vertically
Just guessing though

Low frequency resonance/ thrumming sound
The low frequency thrumming in my FT02 case is killing me!! I've turned off the fans or run them at very low speeds, and the throbbing sound continues. I guess it's from the HDs I presume? I have two drives right now, a 1Tb Samsung and that 3TB Seagate that was reviewed here How do I go about elimin...

Re: A list of positive pressure cases?
Ok let me clarify  What cases have a similar vertical venting deisgn of the FT02? I find this very effecient when combined with positive pressure. Infact I dont really need to turn on the top fan, which creates the most noise - even the Scythe Sliptreams at 5-6v makes too much noise - although...

A list of positive pressure cases?
I have a Silverstone FT02 case, which is postive pressure, and I love the fact no rubbish gets sucked into cracks of the case. So I'm a positive pressure convert for life now :D Just wondering what other good positive pressure cases are there? Or normal cases that can be made to run well as positive...

Re: Evolution of my Drives - My HDs benched
Backing up my 130GB OS partition from a Samsung 1TB HD to a 2TB F4 used to take about 25-30mins at 85-100mb a second with standard compression, with the fastest software for such - Shadow Protect. The same from the Intel 520 SSD to a 3TB Seagate does it in 8-10mins at 150-160mb a second with high co...

Re: Fast but quiet 750+ gb 7200 rpm HDD
Speed is not the main thing, multitasking is! You can load 10 things at once on the SSD and not slow to a crawl, which is why it's so great for an OS drive. Put your pagefile and Temp folder there, and it doesn't flinch. It would take seriously over a minute when the Windows desktop showed on a boot...

Re: Corsair Performance Pro SSD vs Intel 520 SSD
You won't notice any difference between these drives in everyday use. Reliability and tools are more important. I myself would choose between the Intel 520 and Samsung 830. Both have good tools and reliability. Samsung is cheaper, and more square HD size - ie 256-512 vs 240-480  Grab an 830 whi...

Re: Fast but quiet 750+ gb 7200 rpm HDD
Pay up for a 240-256GB SSD for the system drive - believe me I was a skeptic at first, but the HD thrash upon the desktop showing went from a few minutes down to a few seconds on every reboot!! I no longer dread reboots after updates and what not - I no longer bother sleeping the system, and...

Evolution of my Drives - My HDs benched
Well I just upgraded my system drive to an Intel 520 240GB, and added that 3TB Seagate STM3000D01 - so I benched all of my HD. the Samsung H103SJ is the oldest, and was my system drive until this week, going to retire it to the external eSata dock as one of the drives that I turn on occasionally for...

Re: GTX 670 launched
Just got the windforce and I can happily report: Finally highend cards silent enough for SPCR standards. I can not hear it in idle at 25% which is 660 RPM. And I dont mean "cant hear it over my 3000 RPM CPU fans and HDD" (like in other forums), I mean I cant hear the PC at all (no HDD, only 5 and 7...

I modded the bios of my Gigabyte GTX570 OC with the FermiBiosEditor, after saving it with GPU-Z Set the minimum fan speed to 15%, from the factory 40% Then dragged the .rom file onto the latest NVFlash which automaticly burns the bios onto my card while in desktop 8) Rebooted, and now with an ambien...

Since you seem interested in high performance / low noise with pre-fitted cooler, maybe this would help: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/ Performance is similar if not better than 7970, power draw a bit lower, cost should be about the same, and noise is relative...

Re: Any 7970 with factory fitted Artic Cooling?
What's wrong with retrofitting? The price differential between different versions of the same card is likely to be greater than the cost of an aftermarket cooler which means that searching for a single model with a certain cooler prefitted may be more expensive and may not get you the best card. Ju...

Re: Silent & Fast if Possible 2 TB Hard Disk ???
I'm pretty happy with the Samsung F4EG, just got one yesterday. Running in an external case It's way quieter than the Samsung 103SJ 1TB 7200rpm drive it replaced, and faster! Sounds like it's half the volume. It's a 5400rpm drive, but the first 1.2TB is faster than average speed of the Samsung 1TB 7...
