Well, provided you didn't do something foolish like use epoxy as thermal interface material, you can try gently rotating the processor on the heatsink to break the suction. Works for me every time.

since microsoft and toshiba had so much at stake in this venture, shouldn't they have done what sony did? flood the market with hardware? what would it have cost them to include an HD-DVD drive in every xbox360? $20? I don't think Microsoft had so much at stake. Yes, you could buy an HD-DVD add-on ...

The Intel HSF is good out of the box. Not sure of the long-term reliability of the fan (e.g. how soon does the bearing start sounding like a random orbit sander), though. I used the stock Intel C2Duo fan in a build for my brother-in-law and it is plenty quiet.

Both the Ninja (not the Mini) and the Ultra 120 are your best bet and should fit in the Lian Li PC-A05A without issues and will outcool pretty much every heatsink you listed. You can find 120mm PWM fans that will be far superior to the Zalman fan as well so that shouldn't be a concern / gating facto...

A friend of mine just bought the BMW 123d, and I have to admit, I almost never had so much fun in a car. It goes off like a rocket and yet it consumes only 5.something l/100 km (as long as you drive reasonably). You could even go 250 on the Autobahn, but then your consumption looks more like 12 or ...

As for the BWM, I don't think it's coming to America w/ a diesel is it? Something about our prohibitive environmental / low sulfur standards here. Good find

I'm waiting for the BMW 123d to be brought over to the states. I'll be happy with a 50MPG 4-cylinder diesel with RWD, a manual transmission and 290ft/lbs of torque. All those cars are interesting, but don't look to be terribly involving from a driver standpoint. However, they get one thing right - l...

Intel's Skulltrail - a solution in search of a problem?

Anyone else think this is sort of the PC platform equivalent of a Hummer? Power hungry (needs a 1000W PSU at minimum), loud, expensive. It boggles the mind.

Has anyone tried cooling a Merom with an HR-05 IFX?

I'm trying to cool (quietly) a T2300E in an Antec NSK2480 and was thinking about using an HR-05 IFX / SLI as the cooler - given the offset of the SLI version, I could have it right next to one of the 120mm exhaust fans. However, I'm concerned about the amount of power dissipation that can be expecte...

If it is anything like the cooler for the FX5950 Ultra, it'll be noisy. Lots of clicking. On the other hand, the x800 is quite a bit newer than the 5950U, so YMMV.
