I'm 2 to 4 with Firefox. I tend to middle-click (with the mousewheel) any links that take me to other threads as that opens the link in a new tab. I then read it through and either middle-click to close it again, thus returning to the original window, or middle-click any more links. That can result ...

Thanks Bluefront.

BTW, I used your zip-tie and rubber-washer technique for attaching my 120mm fans and it seems to have worked a charm. We'll see how it is when I finally get to switch the machine on, if I ever get that far!

Edit: clarification

Where to place analogue CPU sensor

I got an Aerocool Coolpanel for my new system. It has two analogue temperature sensors, which I plan to use for the CPU and GPU. How does one attach these? Does the CPU one have to go between the CPU and the heatsink? My video card has a passive HS so I would not like to have to remove that. Is it s...

The BQE AcoustiPack does indeed fit - I fitted it yesterday into my 3000B. Simply cut out holes for the side intakes with a craft knife, and don't, whatever you do, take measurements to do the cutting and then cut the wrong side of the foam. A silly mistake, but an easy one.

SLK3000B and 120mm front fan

I just got my boxful of components through - my first new computer in over three years! So, I'm planning to fit an orange Nexus 120mm on the front and am considering drilling a hole between the two that are already there in order to mount it with isolators. Before I do though, are there any alternat...

On my system, the front case fan holes are drilled for a standard fan mount. The plastic fan holder can be removed and a standard fan mounted. Man, that would be great. I just got mine through today and it certainly does NOT fit my Nexus 120mm. I don't understand why anyone would put a space for a ...

I'm still waiting for my 3000B and Nexus 4090 to ship. In the meantime, I'm wondering whether there would be any benefits to ducting the PSU. I plan to have a 120mm exhaust and the same for intake over the HDDs. Would ducting the PSU prevent its ramping up? If so, what would one use to go about such...

I did a lot of reading on this site and opted for the 'king of the coolers': the Thermalright XP-120. It doesn't fit every system though; on some you can tweak it to fit; on others it won't fit at all. There is a list of compatible motherboards on Thermalright's site but it's not very up-to-date unf...

Thanks for the reply. What would an example be of a non-SLI PCIe board? I'll probably just stick with the AGP board to be honest. Cheaper and I don't plan on playing Doom 3 any time soon.

I presume you'll have to move the Intel thermal telescope thingy from the side to fit the XP-120? How easy is it to remove?
Are you planning to line the inside of the case?

Yep, I'm going to go for the 3000B too, mainly due to the two reasons already cited: price and impatience. I'm sure it will be more than enough for my needs.

Yeah, thanks for the extra pics Mike. I'm starting to feel really torn now as I much prefer how this case looks to the 3000B and I'd really like to get the right case. Trouble isn't so much the budget as I could stretch to that; rather, it's the wait. I've waited months for this upgrade.

Thanks for that Jon. I may very well go for that then (NEC 3520) however I'm quite keen on the LG tri-format one (G4163) so I can use DVD-RAM for drag-n-drop backups.

You could go for the Antec 3000B which is basically a combination of the best points of the 3700AMB and 3700BQE and without a PSU. Read the thread on the 3700BQE in the Articles section for more than you need to know.

I've had an NEC 3520A for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. So happy in-fact that it has made my loyal Plextor CD-RW obsolete, which my old DRU-500A failed miserably to do. Did you get that in the UK? If so, where? And do you know whether it does bitsetting? The DVD R/W drive is the last t...

I'm also in the 'about to buy a 3000B' camp. This could change things. Would it come with PSU supplied, I wonder. Most probably. I'd rather it didn't so I could choose my own. Looking forward to the review, but I think two factors will see me sticking with the 300B: price and being in Europe with th...
