what'd you do about the power supply? because it is way too loud, after being spoiled by my latest machine.Rusty075 wrote:I ended up putting a Zalman flower cooler in mine, it fits, barely, with a CD drive. I cut an intake hole over the CPU (where the little vent holes are already) to draw cool air directly in.

And I've got the same little MATX case you've got there, the one under your desk on the left. As a total aside from the point of your post I have a question about that little case: Were you able to fit a CD drive into it with either a big heatsink (like your SLK-800) or a VGA card? i never tried to...

Am i the only one who thinks that the Sonata 380 powersupply is a big disappointment??? It just isn't quiet like they say it should be. Every other noise reducing feature I like, but the powersupply (albeit better than my old heap of crap) just isn't what I thought i was paying for. Their advertisi...

Re: how do you do DC-DC conversion?
how do you convert 24VDC down to 12VDC? afaik, transformers are the only way to step up/down voltage, but they only work with ac. so i suppose you could go dc > ac, step down ac, then ac > dc. but obviously, this is kinda silly. so all we're left with is to burn the extra voltage with a resistor, p...

Re: Opinions on passive cooling a Geforce 2 Ultra
I also looked at the Zalman ZM17-CU, the non heatpipe one, and it looked like an option if it would be enough to cool the chip. i tried the zm17-cu without a fan on my geforce3 ti 200, and it was scorching hot just idling at the desktop. in the end, i had to rig an undervolted 80mm fan blowing dire...

A little tip: you'll be safer with Panaflo M (not L). It will be about the same noise level, but able to cool much better when necessary. point taken on the safety aspect. but would i have any problems putting an L into the psu? it makes sense that an M at 5v is about the same as an L at 7v; howeve...

monitor fan only connector voltage?
is it possible to monitor the voltage put out by an antec power supply (a true power 380s in this case) on the fan only connector via software (such as mbm)?
