Thanks for posting this. It was really well written and interesting to read.
I didn't quite get the bit about how the SSD can't delete files beyond a certain point and the disk space will still indicate no extra room.
I'll have to read it again.

So you're in Edmonton? That's not a bad shipping cost and turn-around time then. Thanks for the detailed review. I was very tempted to get this, but from what you've written and the limited options to customize, I think I'll pass, and maybe consider getting an on-line custom desktop system instead. ...

It doesn't have to sit ON a desk. http://www.123macmini.com/accessories/guide/stands.html http://www.macessitywebstore.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=3 Hmmm....I didn't know there was a whole cottage industry catering to the mini. I like the monitor stand solution the best, though any of those product i...

Nah, the mini only goes up to 2.26 GHz, and I need something with a bit more oomph. It would also have to sit on a desk, increasing the footprint of hardware on my already cluttered desk top (i.e. monitor, speakers, modem, external drives, etc.). I need either an all-in-one like an iMac, or else a t...

It's one thing to do a few installs, it's another to work with a Hackintosh over a long period of time through various Apple updates and component upgrades. I know a few people with Hackintoshes with machines they've had for years, and they are very dedicated. They are always telling me of the lates...

I also am drawn to the Mac OSX. The problem is once you decide to go with Apple, you are locked into their hardware line which has very few options. These few options only change every so often, and then only at the whim of his holiness Steve Jobs. There is the hackintosh route of course, but person...

I love this silenT3 system by Anitec. It has great performance, small size, and it's very reasonably priced. I'd buy it today if they sold to US customers. :( Anitec offers a 4GB memory upgrade, but I've downloaded and read the Asus manual on the barebones system and it says the motherboard accepts...

Reviews of Mac machines
Maybe it's time for Mike C to do a review of one or two of the new mac models. I'd personally be interested to know how quiet (or not) the Mac Pro is.

I have an old ass Soltek (Shuttle-sized) system that's driving me batty. I can hear it throughout the whole house. Found this site and discovered the Anitech SilenT3. With the no-OS option, it seems like a great choice! However, I'm not in Canada right now (in the US), and they don't ship to the St...

Well, their old Eden and Omen units were quiet, as they used the old Zalman TN silent cases. Glad to see they trimmed the size of the Firebird a little from the former model. I've seen the Blackbird in person and it was a huge tower, and heavy. $1800 isn't that bad considering a Mac Pro starts at $2...

Thanks Mike. I didn't even think to look at the regulatory compliance datasheet PDF. Interesting. I guess the iMac is still quieter, and with the AIO design, the extra dBA on the Dell would make a difference sitting on top of a desk closer to someone's head. Since the iMac review is now 2 years old,...

Dell XPS One AIO

The 20" was released last year, and there is now the 24". More companies are copying the iMac.
Has anyone here by any chance seen these Dell AIOs in person, or own one?
And is it quiet?

Anitec stealth series - discontinued?
I noticed on the Anitec website that the spcr designed system is no longer available. I also noticed that there's no information for the stealth desktop series in general. So I phoned Anitec and was told that the entire stealth series is no longer being offered. What gives? Where do Canadians go to ...
