yea , you should try disabling them before you order the new hdd it might quiet it down enough where you dont even need it

have got some harddisks working again by hitting them with a screw-driver, first gently, later on somewhat harder and suddenly it did spin up and work Smile
i have to admit that i like that idea, although i never did anything for me but help my anger that i just lost all my data :lol:

well what os are u using , windows, Linux if its windows do you have a spy ware removal tool, or a virus scanner, because often when a computer is idle some apps will use the time and scan the computer for viruses and spyware , also you have 2gb of ram in it so i don't think its using the swap disk ...

aw ok i see, so i would wire in the power brick to that? what about the other stuff thats gonna need power like the cf to ide adapters (2 of them) each require a power from a floppy connecter, and the slim dvd rom thats gonna be in it?

im not much of a psu guy, took me alittle while just to figure out the psu on that case, your gonna have explain the psu setup alittle better, if you can show me a link to a pico psu maybe ill understand more :oops:

Mike C - I already have 2 CF/PATA adapters thats why i didn't put then down, although i should get better ones because the ones i have are cheapy $6 USD ones.


jaganath - what do you suppose I do then, run a an undervolted Nexus 80? Because I HIGHLY doubt that theres a after market heatsink for it.
