Ehh sorry, aint sacrificing power for noise, im a gamer, need all the CPU cycles that my machine can muster.
That being said, this foam insulation on my drive door seems to be working.

Yup, the rear fan sucks air up through the XP-120 and blows it out the back. The front fan is supposed to be the only intake--I have it set at 50% and the rear at 30%. I guess it's working, as I have to clean the filter out regularly (I hate shedding season :x ), but I don't know of any way to veri...

Yeah, I thought about cutting an extra breathing hole on the bottom but I really don't wanna start hacking the case away. Im gonna see if I can seal the drive area around the door so air can't enter period. The worklog for "Night Wind" is here if you wanna see more http://www.hardforum.com/showthrea...

Where are you getting dust buildup? Is it behind the bezel between an optical drive and the case near the clips? If so, just tape around the optical drive/case junction to seal it off. I did this with electrical tape, although anything should work. If the Sonata is like my 3000B, that tape will not...

Arrrrgh! Sonata pulling air through drive bays!!!
Dangit, im pissed of here. I've recently completed my latest project "Night Wind" on a Antec Sonata. I"ve been very impressed with the quietness of this case and using ideas from these forums and its worked out very well. HOwever, the past week i've noticed a real problem. Even after all the front i...

thanks. how about the annoyingly bright leds next to the usb ports? can they be replaced as well? There actually not that bright, I believe Antec actually wired up a resistor in later versions of the Sonata to reduce brightness and mine has one. If there that annyoing to you, yes they will require ...

Awesome. Great glossy paint job, I can see your house! Now i feel inspired to do something to my own sonata. For some reason, I cannot load the page at HardForum. What controller thingo is that, in between your optical drives? (and do you like it, or would you get something else?) Its an Aerogate I...

nice project. my one question is why you would take the time to paint the optical drive faceplates, but leave the tray fronts white?!? i'm guessing you didn't know that those come off very easily: with the pc powered on, eject the tray. the fronts pop up and off. i've done this to several drives wi...

Foam + HDD's = good
I'd like to thank everyone for their input and ideas for this. For the longest time i've been having to put up with the gawd awful noises from my HDDS for years. I become more and more aware of how freaking noise not only my Western Digitals were by themselves, but also learning how much reverbratio...

i just got a pair of 120mm coolermaster blue uv's from svc. they're pretty nice fans for the price, but both of mine are identical in terms of sound - a continuous rattling sound (like dragging a twig over the bumps of a corrugated tin shed), can still be heard at from 1 metre away at 5 volts, actu...
