Re: Athlon X2 600e quad - 45W setup, MINI-ITX

processor: Athlon X2 600e quad - 45W setup motherboard: MINI-ITX or microATX Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H The MSI 785G boards use less power. What mini itx boards are you considering. I've noticed that there are very few. Supposedly Sapphire is coming out with a 785 mini itx that supports 2xddr3 full s...

The attraction of the pico is it's size and the lack of fans. A mini-itx case which doesn't have to fit a psu can be significantly smaller than one which does need to. Plus I want to learn some more about computer electronics and this seems a fair starting point. Happy to hear the wires are joined ...

Re: Inside my new Lian Li PC-A05N

1. CASE - Lian Li PCA05N I was actually looking for the older version (without the 'N') because it had I/O Firewire, but unfortunately couldn't order it anymore. I chose this case because it combined everything I was looking for. Not big, yet plenty of space to put decent things in and a great desi...

I'm confused...why would you want to rely on the PicoPSU? It sounds like you're going to try to use a lot of power relative to what the Pico really supports. The whole point of splitting the "rails" is to ensure the Pico isn't overloaded with current. As for the "rails", if you look a the board, all...

I think it's got plenty of ventilation, I'm using a smaller case at the moment and temps are fine with only a single case fan.

the 3870 looks tempting over my 9600GT. $55 seems a bit steep though, for a card 2 generations old right now. is $55 solid, or is there some padding in there? It's not solid, I saw some going for $50 on another forum, and those were single slot coolers that didn't exhaust outside the case. I've got...

I'm in the same boat. I've found that J&W board, but the 785G version doesn't seem to be sold in the US. I thought I was happy with mATX, but next time I revise my system, I might have to go mITX, and that Silverstone SG07 case looks mighty nice.

I can bundle cables with it if necessary. I've got the component video and dvi-vga adapters as well as the crossfire connector. $55 shipped, though I might consider a trade. paypal only please. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4261/photo070n.th.jpg http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6866/photo069k...

Id probably choose the Qmicra over this. They are similar cases... Im really anxious to see how silverstones new mini performs. If it can keep the temps down Im getting one. But the qmicra is bigger and more expensive. The design of "da box" is just more appealing to me. And silverstones case is mi...

It's not about "who is right", it's about a card that is known to draw 80w at load and no one ever measured how much of it actually comes from the 6 pin connector... :? The X1950 you have on hand could as well be the only card in the known world to behave in the way you will measure it, so you're n...

NEW matx case- Lan Gear Da Box

So, I searched, couldn't find any info on it here, and decided I'd share my findings. It seems to be a new company with a single product, the "Da Box 100". Unlike most uatx cube cases, it fits the PSU up front, allowing for tower coolers to be used in conjunction with a full size ATX power supply. C...

Re: Pico PSU Connectors

Ryboto came up with the idea of feeding 12V power directly from the external power brick instead of passing it through the PicoPSU. If you get a Dell DA-2 power brick (still available used on eBay the last time I checked), you get three circuits of power which you can feed into (i) PicoPSU, (ii) CP...

I really like the design. For the PSU, if it could be mounted with the fan pointing outside the case, to draw cool air from there, you would just need to change the orientation of those left side slots. Might want to add holes on the front for USB and power/reset buttons. Also, possibly add mounting...

What are the 12v voltages under load? Did you ever measure the 12v at the brick? I mean to say, did you open up the unit and measure the 12v from the PCB?

I'm curious what kind of voltage drop you're getting between the pico and the brick's PCB. I measured over .6v loss with my connector. What is your 12v reading in the BIOS or software monitoring?

Again, to anyone who didn't read the history on this, two years ago myself and others already reported on the incompatibilites between the PW-200 series and the DA-2. Something to do with voltage ramp up time. Just like the PicoPSU 150, the 120 works perfectly with the brick also.

For me, it's all about the idle. Well, I guess I do require a card to have a load power requirement of under 100W, but as long as it idles low, I'm happy. Nvidia did a good job with the GT200 series against the HD 4000's, but compared to the 5000 series and the 3800 series, the idle power left room ...

We need someone to measure the power draw versus some intel quads. Anandtech's power readings are promising, but I'd like to see some more in depth measurements from xbit or spcr.

I just want to see performance and power draw. Wait, I know it will destroy my current card, so show me power draw for both. This will probably be what gets me to upgrade if power use scales well vs the 5850/70.

guys, this has been documented before. There's something wrong with the PW-200+DA-2 and voltage ramp-up with certain motherboards. if the Bit-Tech review is to be trusted, then the card might be decent on idle power.
