Which Micro ATX 754/939 mobo to get?
I would like a good MicroATX (can be slightly larger, this is for a custom case. Full ATX however is far too large). The ones that my local reseller has are these: S 754: http://www.komplett.se/k/kl.asp?bn=10125 S 939: http://www.komplett.se/k/kl.asp?bn=10482 S 754 CPUs: http://www.komplett.se/k/kl....

Speedfan and Epia M-ITX, now supports CPU die temp reading!
I Just installed the new speedfan (4.20) on my VIA M-ITX M10000 (Erza... >.<) and now *it can read CPU die temperature*!
Woo!
(It was surprisingly cool too, although i have switched the thermal pad with AS3).

According to the text next to the graph, the efficiencies they are implying: 495/600 = 82.5% 405/500 = 81.0% They neglected to mention how loud it is though. Um, that wouldn't be the efficiency (AFAICT) that is the drop in power output/efficiency that occurs as the mosfets temperature rises, not th...

If you connect the Molex and rewire it for 5V or 7V, is it still OK to plug in the 3-pin connector for RPM monitoring? Or will the 12V coming from the motherboard header do bad things when it is mixed with the 5V/7V combination from the Molex? It would do bad things. You'd be shorting the 5v and 12...

As for the stock back plate, when I built a system for a few friends of mine, I kept the stock one and re-used the orignal screws, and tightened it to the same tightness as it would have been with zalmans by comparing the hieght of the standoffs to the position of the bracket. Hi, You mean using th...

The max 450G requirement is meant for big OEMS, that have to ship built computers on trucks and stuff, where they are subjected to very nasty bumps and jarrs (somewhere around 10G's I believe). So 700grams wont kill your bracket directly, just be carefull when moving your computer to not be all too ...

Don't worry about the port at all, if it is hot enough to melt that then you've got much more pressing problems such as your cpu bieng completely dead. However, one thing you should worry about is the of-center load that will occur becuase of the contact. The base of the HSF will no longer press eve...

Thanks for the replies. My main challenge now is to find a supplier nearby for the elastic masterial. I agree with your ideas that discontinuing the use of the drive is smarter, but I just feel stupid having a 120 Gb sitting on a shelf somewhere. The only place I can put the hard drive is in a CD b...

1) Molex SilentDrive Acoustic Enclosure 2) Zalman Hard Drive Heatpipe Cooler ZM-2HC2 Please be careful about those recommendations (at the bottom). I wasn't actually recommending any of them, just listing the coolers that I'm aware of. Still, I take your point. My bad. The Zalman unit especi...

There are several diffrent ways that you could attach them (listed as noise level, better is higher up): -Drill holes and use rubber grommets -Use existing holes and use bluefront's cable tie holding assembly thing. search for it, it is quite common) -Double sticky *foam* tape -Cyanoacrylate glue (f...

This, and all other "put comp inside refridgerator" ideas do not work, at least not well at all. the reason being that they are made for cooling stuff down that does not give of any heat whatsoever, the only thing they have to work against is heat leaking thorugh the insulation, which is not alot of...

Ducting a 7000Alcu, blowing the hot air up! *PICS*
What I have wanted to do for a while now is duct out the hot air that my cpu gives off while using a zalman 7000. This of course is quite difficult in that you don't have a frame to hold the fan in, so I had to make my own fan holder thing. When attached like it is now (using the stock fan @ 5v for ...

I'm not an electronics genius, but isn't a zener diode basically a one-way power gate? A zener diode will let current pass through it one was with a voltage drop of something like 0.7V, and will let current pass through it the other way if the voltage is above the zener voltage stated on the diode....

There are two different types of heatpipes, one (the type used in ZMHP80A/C/D coolers) are a hollow pipe with liquid, and gravity gets the liqiuid back to the bottom after in condenses, wheras the XP-120 for instance, has a wick that pulls the liquid back up, which means that is can work independant...
