At $500 for the barebones, this is tempting. It may just be worth it to buy it to play with OS X! The educational discount just adds fuel to the fire.

I'm not sure if the ATi Silencers did this, but I think the reason you're getting better temps with the Zalman is because the Zalman no longer cools both the memory and the GPU.

The NV Silencers covered both the memory and GPU, so naturally, the GPU will be hotter.

Nice to hear. I am going to make the switch from my NV Silencer 5 as well.

Two questions:
1) AlCu or Cu?
2) Where did you buy it from? Only two places I see available: www.atacom.com or www.sharkacomputers.com.

Thanks.

Can ya blame 'em? In my opinion, Antec has never had the best design sense. It does look like a fridge.

It's interesting to see that they've utilized the V-series choice of the isolating chambers. We'll see how that turns out.

Looking forward to the review. If it's good enough, maybe I'll do the switch :).

I've been using laptop style keyboards for about two years now, so I've grown accustomed to their awkwardly placed and miniature-sized buttons. FYI, I'm not getting the BlueTooth version so it won't cost me $250. I think the MSRP on it is $150. The mouse certainly isn't up to par but it would work g...

I was discussing keyboard with Edward the other day and took his word that the DiNovo was the best choice for quiet computing. It is true that the UltraX and PX5000 (?) or Mac keyboards are quiet, but they don't really match the theme I have going for my computer. In light of the Logitech LX series,...

The IntelliMouse always been lacking on quality. I believe it's somewhere around 400cpi, where the Logitech mice (MX700, MX510) are 800cpi, and the new MX1000 is 1000cpi (?). The absolute best in mice are without a doubt Razers, that is, if you don't mind corded. I'm getting the DiNovo non-BlueTooth...

New mATX case: Silverstone LC-11

Has any had any experience with these cases? They seem to be marvellously built, and quite fashionable: http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/lc11/34%20view/LC11.jpg As per SilverStone tradition, which has been in existence for only a year or so, any PCI/AGP cards are mounted in parallel with the m...

AcoustiPack on Lian Li V1000/V-Series Cases

Has anyone tried this? I'm considering getting one of these for my V1000B, but I'm a bit weary that it'd be ineffective due to the large number of holes for the sound to escape, and hard to install, due to the strange way the side doors latch on to the main chassis. According to the reviews here at ...

I'm glad you decided to suspend them. It's marvellous isn't it?

I think that mounting the drives in the 5.25'' bay is not a very good idea for the hard drive health. If I recall correctly, there was and still is a lot of dead (warm) air in the 5.25'' bay area.

He states that it is "inaudible" at 5V and that "you can only hear it if you put year ear next to it." I wonder how this cooler would perform on cases where its passive cousin fails to perform to its full potential, i.e. the V-series case line by Lian Li. The cooler sitting on top of the GPU instead...
