7k60 Real loud

Hi, I upgraded the HD in my laptop from a toshiba 4200rpm (don't know exactly what model), to the hitachi 7k60. My toshiba is near silent, while i don't expect the 7k60 to be as quiet, the noise from the new 7k60 i have is VERY LOUD. It has a constant idle whirring noise (kind of like a noisy case f...

my asus p4p800 comes with a handy utility called AsusProbe that monitor temperatures and fan speed. It also store the history and have a plot of all the numbers. Quite decent in my opinion though i don't have experience with other utilities.

I have the 160G drive too. It's very quiet after turning AAM on.
Use dtemp for drive temperature. It runs about 40 for mine.

GamingGod, I have a similar setup and i chose the p4p800 deluxe. The extras compared to the non-deluxe includes 1394 and IDE Raid. I am using 2x256MB Corsair PC3200C2 and they are working great at 2-3-3-6. Though this is not recommended by corsair. I tried 2x512MB Corsair and it completely fails. Af...

What is a good (reliable) temperature for harddrive?

Currently I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus 160GB running at 44C idle, and a seagate barracuda V 60GB running at 41C idle. I am wondering if shd do extra cooling to cool them down. I have a sonata case. So if i were to add a fan, it would be a 120mm fan behind the drive cage. Do u think that will be...

Thanks for all the replies. First the card does use push pins. One thing i am worried is the capacitor at the top of the card. I don't know how i can slide out the heatsink without damaging that capacitor. I have tried running it without the fan and did 3dmark2001. It got pretty hot (to the degree t...

Re: Quiet Down Dell Dimension 8100

- maybe you could change the fan in the power supply to something more quiet like a Panaflow FBA0812L1A, depends on what type of load u have on that power supply, save you the money of buying a adapter and a new PSU - Zalman ZM-F2 Fans are not as quiet as other fans available according to many memb...

Re: Dell uses different pin-outs!!!!

Hello: If you plug a "real" ATX power supply into a Dell motherboard, you will cook the motherboard! UNLESS you use something like this: http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/dellconverter.html?id=kjk3Rvz2 I have not used these folks before, but I happened to see this Dell adaptor when I first visite...

Quiet Down Dell Dimension 8100

I own a Dell 8100 and am getting more and more annoyed by its noise. However, at this point I am not able to tell what the most significant source of noise is, so I am thinking of doing whatever I can. 1. Power supply - I am thinking of the Nexus 3000. But do any of u know if i need some kind of ada...
