The phrasing, "prove there is no separation of church and state" produces too strong of a question, to which the answer is obviously no.

I think what you mean to ask is, does this indicate that there is incomplete separation of church and state? And yes, it does, but we're getting there.

RAM doesn't really get hot to the touch unless you overvolt and overclock it. We stick a kilogram of copper on the CPU, otherwise it would burn itself to death. Given these facts, how have you come to conclude that RAM is a significant source of heat and noise? Anyway, to answer your question, newer...

Field's metal as thermal interface?

Field's metal is a nontoxic eutectic alloy consisting of 32.5% Bi, 51% In, and 16.5% Sn. It melts at 62 °C. I have a crazy idea. If some Field's metal (as a fine powder perhaps) were placed between a heatsink and a CPU, with no other thermal interface material, then the Field's metal could possibly...

Yes, seems that there's no reason for you to go with 7200 RPM. The WD Caviar Green or the Samsung F2 Eco-Green are both good choices. I have a 1.5 TB F2 Eco-Green myself, but it's in an external enclosure and hooked up to a super-noisy laptop, so I can't really comment on how loud it would be suspen...

Well under 1W. I suspect the laser in optical drives would consume 10-20 mW to read and 50-100 mW to write.

But that is neither here nor there. I'm looking forward to some pics of your chimney setup!

The basic choice to make is between 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM. 7200 is faster, 5400 is quieter and lower power. In my opinion, the point of getting an SSD is that you can store everything you need frequently on it, and pair it with a 5400 RPM for large things you don't need to be fast, like redundant ba...

Other than the noise coming from the power supply, the only concern would be shortening the life of the PSU by operating it at higher temperatures - but you won't even be close to that kind of hot (and the PSU fan is there to protect it).

Looks like a Scythe Big Shuriken.

As for your question, why not remove the fan and see how your temps end up after an hour or two of CPU load? You may find that the EA-430's fan will speed up because all the CPU heat will be piling up in the top of the case.

Every case is out of the box, stock, 100% completely perfectly silent.

They don't make noise until you put components into them - and then the noise they make depends on the components inside them in a very complicated way.

I hope we don't have to wait too long to see single-slot passive coolers on HD 5570s. They really don't need a fan, and I would like to have a little performance in reserve, compared to the 5450, just in case.
