I think the General Gallery is the forum for large pictures, along with a warning for dial-up users. I try to keep my p...

Sorry....I don't buy any of the conclusions of this thread. When I tested ten fans against an intake resistance (filter materials), the Slip Stream and the S-Flex performed equally well. I suspect the particular example had a problem, or the testing setup was faulty. The RPM change when the filter w...

Getting the right configuration for switching between the two has been difficult. I'm trying to avoid an external mess of wiring.....

Heh.... animals like raccoons and opossums have been living around people forever. I suppose this animal is as safe around here as anywhere. There are no dogs running loose, and no hunters. Out in the country there are coyotes and wild dogs (it's only predators), as well as hunters and cars. Actuall...

thejamppa..... sounds nice. But I use the carport for many things, like wood-working projects. And this is no tame raccoon. I really wouldn't want to be out there with a wild raccoon a few feet away. Good news.....the thing left the carport in the day-time. Those moth-balls must have done it. Now the whole carport smells like an old-time closet. Hope that did it. Thanks guys..... :D

I'm not wild about the dog idea....and I don't know anybody with a dog who would lend it to me. :) This is a big raccoon.....he's knocking things off the shelving as is. There's a ladder on the top shelf, and he sleeps on top of it. I'm afraid he'll hit my truck with something really heavy, since it...

IMHO..... I've probably made more custom setups than most people on SPCR, and many out of wood. If the cabinet is large enough, with enough internal dampening, it certainly will quiet down whatever is inside the thing. But it probably still won't be quiet enough for you, if the internal computer is ...

Since virtually no cases rely on the metal of the case for anything other than support, and some sound blocking.....adding dampening foam won't hurt anything if it doesn't impede airflow too much. There's no set rules here, but a bigger case offers the ability to use thicker foam. There are some rea...

If I get the chance to actually examine a new case, one of the first things I do is give it the knuckle test.....give the side panel a sharp rap. A good/tight case will return a "klunk". Here's my take on this..... It is virtually impossible to simply look at a fan-blade design, and tell how well it will perform in a restrictive airflow setup. Well if the screws are actually a non-standard size, you'll probably have trouble finding rubber mounts for it. Get some small zip-ties and use them instead of screws. Put a few small pieces of foam at the corners...just snug up the zip-ties. (a second zip-tie acts like a nut). This will soft-mount ...
