Re: First build - Low Setting Gaming, advice appreciated
I like almost all of the choices on the hardware for a budget build. Only thing that i would change, i feel the 1050ti is a little old, we have the 3060 that will be released shortly, so the 3050 should follow in the months to come. If you budget is tight, drop the windows 10 licence, and buy it on ...

Re: What is better for silent gaming operation? Noctua U9s or a 280mm AIO?
I would probably start searching for builds on the 280x, sometimes manufactures don't list correctly the height of the cpu coolers or the give some tolerance that in this case would be useful, as if you can get away with 155m then coolers like Mugen5 would be a great option. Checking for 10min on pc...

Re: Looking for a cheaper and reliable recommendation
I second the AMD 5600x as one of the best gaming cpus out there, so that would be my pick. For motherboard, i would go with B550 so you get a passive chipset, its been out more than 3 months now so bios have mature enough, that said as with x570 new bios have been released to support new ryzen cpus....

I think over time more cores will be better, programs like Adobe, Davinci, OBS, etc have opitized thier software for whats was available, mostly was intel quads, but with AMD last two gens pushing more cores i feel they will start to optimize for more cores, weather they are needed is something that...

Re: New Gaming/Streaming pc
A friend just built a i9 10900k + rtx3090 and it pulls from the wall with AIDA64 + Furmark = 566W, the 5950x is suppose to be a more efficient CPU, i doubt you will need more than 750W, both stress test will pull more than anything you do, so expect less than 550W, my guess streaming and gaming will...

Since you seem to want to go with RGB, Superflower is a very good OEM and has the following in stock, LEADEX III ARGB 750W 80 PLUS GOLD MODULAR POWER SUPPLY - BLACK If you don't want an RGB PSU, then i would suggest to with Seasonic, PRIME GX-750 750W 80 PLUS GOLD MODULAR POWER SUPPLY

Re: RTX 3080 review compilation
The EVGA certainly looks like a contender to the Asus/MSI, probably even better as it sustain higher clocks with the same noise. Re: is it worth it to buy overclockable ram ?
Worth it is a very relative term, for me it is, Ryzen 3000 series benefits from overclockable ram, 3200/3600 is the sweetspot but really depends on your workload and usage. Dont over spend though, while the are gains, they are small. Does RAM Speed Matter? — Which Should You Buy for Zen 2? — 7 RAM K...

Funny, I based my opinion on the same reviews :). I get annoyed when mfgrs throw extra core voltage at the problem driving up power use. Of course, a sample size of 1 isn't a good place for a judgement call. <shrug> You know I'm the xx60 guy, anyway. :) Check Optimum tech MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio...

Re: GTX 3080 review compilation
At first look, I think it's a toss up between the Asus and the MSI Gaming X Trio. The former might be a dB quieter and a better cooler, but the MSI is slightly faster and uses less power for both 2D and 3D tasks. I was set on MSI, specially because the lack of seeing higher end cards like STRIX, AO...

Its likely you will find server grade motherboard with support for dual cpus sockets, but i haven't seen 4, but it probably they exist just not on retail. I would probably contact server grade manufactures of motherboards like Supermicro and see if they can build custom, they should have the enginee...

In all honesty, unless you are trying to save a lot, you can build a todays pc cheap with ryzen, specially if you do editing it could help you invest a little more and get something that its up to date.

CPU, i went for a Ryzen 9 3900x. I observer that the CPU is quickly spiking even in near idle mode, which causes the FANs to go crazy for a couple of seconds. Good overall case is the Fractal Define R6 or Meshify S2, either will allow you to mount rads on the front and back, but might be too laid back for your grandson. I would recommend to take a look into Lian Li PC-O11DW , you can go with AIO or go full custom water loop with rads on top side, bottom o...

Re: Noctua introduces twin NF-A12x25 NH-U12A CPU cooler
Swap the NF-A15 140mm stock fan for the silent wings 3 BL067 (both are 140mm). No, the fans are not the same, yes they are 140mm both.. but the frame is not, the NF-A14 would be equal to the BL067 (true 140mm fans), the NF-A15 are 140mm fan on a 120mm mounting frame, same is the case for some bq pu...

Re: Noctua introduces twin NF-A12x25 NH-U12A CPU cooler
I thought this might be due to the Silent Wings 3 on the Dark Rock Pro being a slightly quieter fan than the Noctua fan. So if you swapped out the stock fan on the Noctua for the SW3, you'd have the better cooling from the Noctua heat sink AND quieter fan? It might... but highly unlikely, when i te...
