DES on my GA-EP35C-DS3R does almost nothing. i'm measuring at the wall, and even with the highest level of voltage cut and speed throttle , it can only save 1 or 2 watt i put this down to E8400 already being a pretty power efficient cpu. this DES technology seems to have missed the boat, would have ...

ok so 20-24 pin adapter is totally useless now that i have realised the 20 pin plug just fits into the board. if the extra 4 are added pins for PCIe power, then it should be okay because the 8800GT has its own PCIe connector direct to the PSU anyway, so it's not pulling all that current through the ...

thanks Cerb, just one thing.. 4. Most PSUs have the extra 4 so that they will separate, leaving you with 20. If not, get a 24->20 adapter. its the psu that has the 20 pin and the mobo with 24. at the moment i just plugged the 20 pin into the motherboard and it worked. any danger in not supplying the...

thanks psiu 2. They are now using PWM fans and using 4 pin headers...basically instead of a variable voltage to obtain your fanspeed, they use full power for varying lengths of time (well, tiny lengths of time ;)). So instead of 7V-----------> , you now get 12V - 0 - 0 - 12 - 0 - 0 - 12...but obviou...

help.. a few problems with ninja on new build
hello , i have got a ninja plus rev. B and a GA-EP35C-DS3R mobo, and was trying to build today but ran into many problems... apologies if some of these are obvious question, i haven't done a build for years  1. i don't like the pushpin mounting system for LGA775, i don't really want the whole w...

Re: Need help deciding which Dual/Quad Core
The other question is are there any good reasons to get the E8400, when I could get the Q6600 for £22 more? Whatever processor I get, I'd like to overclock it and I intend to cool it with a Ninja and 120mm Nexus fan. yes. E8400 is newer, manufactured on the 45nm process with intel fancy new metal ...

The FSB is actually 333 (1,333 = 333 x 4) which equates to DDR2 667 (333 x 2) if you require matching the FSB and RAM clocks. ah.. yes, of course, thankyou do you also know about any differences between 4x1GB or 2x2GB? in the GA-EP35C-DS3R they can all 4 run in dual channel modes (dual dual channel...

GA-EP35-DS4 GA-EP35C-DS3R <<<<<<<-------THIS ONE GA-EP35-DS3P GA-EP35-DS3R GA-EP35-DS3 The DS3R is the cheapest one with "Ultra Durable II" power saving features, so that is probably what you want, unless you need firewire. I just got one, from newegg, and it came with E-SATA ports as well. ok than...

well, the samsungs are pretty good. and no, identical models will not necessarily spin at exactly same rpm. but you don't need to even do that, just suspending them probably will do the trick.. and make sure they are spaced apart a bit too (as in, each drive should have at least a 5 1/4 bay's worth ...

yes i like asus boards, i am currently using one and have always found them to be high quality. but i have wanted to give gigabyte a try because they seem to focus on after-market boards for people building and tweaking their own machines. from what i've read asus board won't undervolt as deeply as ...

does anyone know how to decipher gigabyte's naming scheme, i am trying to choose a motherboard and its very confusing there are lots of models and when you use the comparator seem to be very little or no differences between some of them, for example GA-EP35-DS4 GA-EP35C-DS3R GA-EP35-DS3P GA-EP35-DS3...

interesting, if i'm not misunderstood the new boards with an 'E' in the model name are pretty much the same hardware as the old boards but with a newer bios installed? and for those that don’t like flashing lights on their motherboard there’s also the option to switch them off in this utility ho...
