The EPIA boards have "Disk on chip" which AFAIK is bootable.
I think you can also boot from a Pen Drive - not sure though.

PC P&C Silencer Comments
I just installed my PC P&C silencers (3). Here are my comments: Pros: Cheap! Free Shipping! Lots of extras included - 4 screws per fan (duh) Plus 3 thumbscrews (definate plus, really needed these!), 3 power end caps, and thermal paste (why it comes with fans, I'm not quite sure) Really quiet from 93...

Or use Mozilla or Netscape. They have script options, one of them that doesn't allow unrequested windows to be opended. I never get any popups. Although I have had a few cases where a requested popup window wouldn't show up because of how the website was doing things. Plus you can block images from...

Yes, the glue could easily melt if the heatsink got hot enough. I don't know the actual melting temp, though. Erm...how are you going to glue an 80mm fan to a 40mm heatsink? Just curious :) The bracket and shipping would be cheaper than a glue gun (assuming $14 for the glue gun). You could make your...

That's friggin insane! The Radeon 9700 Pro fan is clearly audible through a case, even a relatively loud one. If the FX fan is that loud...I can't possibly begin to imagine.... Also, those temps are just plain dangerous. This card would be completely unstable in even a low to possibly medium airflow...

It would have been better to suck air in from the case.

Both the iWill XP333 and iWill XP333R allow undervolting and bus underclocking. Adjustable in BIOS: Vcore settings 1.2-1.85 Bus speeds: 100 to 233 MHz (DDR so effective 200 to 466) If you set the Vcore too low, and the board can't get the CPU going, it resets the CMOS to defaults for you. With the stock fan turned off, and the stock heatsink still on, the temperature on the base of the heatsink is: DegF: 107.9 idle / 123 max load DegC: 42 idle / 50.5 max load No artifacting or anything...but it seems rather high. I'm definately thinking about getting a Zalman chipset cooler and tryin...

Wow, that's something. I wonder if this is an anomaly. Is it using PWM for the fan speed control? Have you considered exchanging it? I think someone is sending me a sample to review, but if your sample is normal, I don't even want to bother. What is it with Vantec, anyway? You are referring to the ...

Mike, my motherboard is an Asus A7V8X. The temps I'm getting are from the Asus PCProbe program. I realize it's not the most accurate method of recording temperature, but at least it gives me an idea of what's going on. Thermaltake Volcano9 @2300rpm CPU/MB: Idle- 54c/36c CPU/MB: Load- 61c/36c Zalman...

Nice, though. Papst fans have been in development for 20 years, while this type of case fan might have a way to go before being as silent as the form factor would allow. Antec sells a Cyclone Blower that is a very similar design, with 42 CFM / 26 dba. Of course, that number might be 1 inch away, it...

Steve Jobs is a huge fan (pun) of silent pcs. I heard some of the early iMacs w/o a fan had heat problems. The newer macs have huge heatsinks and two fans. One on the power supply and one for the mobo/cpu. I thought the cubes were pretty cool. (way over priced) Kind of like Shuttle's SFF line. The ...

Re: Just rip the stock fans off and see what happens
I lived with the screaming fan on my GF2 for years until I just tore it off and left the heatsink underneath it. Its been working great for weeks. I was about to buy that Zalman heatsink thing but considering that the vid card is only worth $50ish I thought I'd risk running with no vid fans. In 2 y...
