Euhm .. waarom koopt ge uwen NF7-S ni gewoon in België? :P. (tones.be bijvoorbeeld .. daar komen mijn zalmans ook van trouwens).

I wonder how much cooler a SLK900U is compared to a SLK800(A) with the same fan.
Then again, I'm not buying anything new until the Athon64's are unleashed.

The stock fan is inaudible as far as I can tell. My other fans overpower it at least. I'll be replacing it with a zalman soon though. I have an SLK800A and it fits just fine .. just about enough room to fid the NB cooler I think (or hope).

Thanks for the review link!

This: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=10678 however is fairly interesting ...
It could just solve part of the problem.

Then again, the real problem is that ludicrous power hogging piece of crap processor!

An inch and a half should be about enough.
My SB is extremely close to my AGP slot .. I'm using an Abit NF7-S rev2.0, it's pretty tight.

Zalman ZM80A-HP users .. help me out please?

Could someone be so kind as to tell me how much room there is between the heatpipe and the bottom (aka the agp slot) of the card? I'm afraid it won't fit because I slapped a HS on my southbridge ..

Thxies :)

I've spent a few hours looking for the 9500pro power consumption now but I've been unable to find anything.
I'm not sure whether it has an extra power connector though .. I don't think it does. If it does it's so small I can't see it on the pictures :?.

I see.
I think I'll buy a 9500pro then. I'll get rid of the noise and heat without too much effort I think.
Unless of course the 9600 consumes a lot less power .. but I doubt it.

Could anyone explain to me why the 9500pro is faster AND cheaper than the 9600pro? What on earth is the reason for the 9600's existance if it's predesessor(sp?) is faster? :?

I do however wonder whether they are able to outperform the FX5600 Ultra's ... (they can be passively cooled as well ... ).

I think what he's asking is whether you need to apply thermal goop between the heat spreader and the heatsink despite the fact that there is goop between the core and the heat spreader. The answer to this question is: YES. You have to apply thermal goop between any two surfaces. Aka core and hs, hs...

Gandalf, you bring up a good point. I wish PSU manufacturers would take note from the amplifier design world. I'm not an electrical engineer, but there are new switched designs in the amp world that can reach an efficiency of >90% with a very varied load and the demands for the waveform in the ampl...

Wireless connections?

My dad just bought a laptop, and it's a real pain in the ass lugging it around with a UTP cable plugged into it. Is there any way to wirelessly hook him up to my network *without* buying a $150 stupid wireless access point and a $50 pcmcia card to go with it? I just want a simple point-to-point wire...

AFAIK that 90% CPU usage is pretty normal. Why? Because you're playing vids at a pretty high resolution. As long as there aren't dropped frames you shouldn't worry about. The C3 doesn't have any trouble with high cpu usage.

Removing thermal adhesive?

I have a problem. I have a broken ABIT NF7-S motherboard, but I already slapped on a southbridge cooler before noticing it was broken. The cooler is attached with the Zalman thermal adhesive. I cannot RMA it as long as the cooler is attached to it or there are traces of thermal adhesive left. Is the...

hard drive power

What is it that makes harddrives consume this much power? Laptop drives use roughly 5-10 times less power than a desktop drive .. is it because they spin at slower rates? Or is there some other reason?

LED's can *easily* illuminate an entire room. They illuminate my room anyway. I have three LED spots rated 2W each. They're supposedly 90candela each and deliver 35Lux (at 1metre). I (obviously!) have a 24v ac/dc adaptor for it. I wouldn't want to fry them with 230v ;).
