id guess that its about 60 or 70 cents, i have no idea what it would cost to ship these units, far too much for a 'parcel delivery' however i can find ut about sending them just plain airmail. unless of course we make this even more complicated and i ship a job lot to you in the us at parcel rate an...

Elastomer Fan Mount Grommits - A Group Buy

i have contacted a manufacturer of the elastomer gel mounts in the UK thay have sent me a price list etc. to cut a lot of waffling out if a can buy more thant 100 of the mounts it brings the price (including VAT P&P and enough to cover the postal price to send them on again) to around 50p each. ther...

thanmks, it was the right stuff i found in wickes. like i say i just thought it would be thicker. i shall buy some of the really wide stuff and put a couple of layers on. it certainly cant hurt. (uless i hapen to change the resonant freqency of th case to exactly that provided by the fans, now that ...

ive read that people have had trouble with the zalman psu whining with a radeon 9700pro. it seems the exra power connector the radeon has can cause the whine. ill dig out the link to the post if you are interested, or no one confirms this first hand.

Just in case its of interest, i have now moved the psu fan outside of the psu case. it has cut the noise down considerably, however there is still a fair bit of vibrational noise as i havent yet got hold of any elastomer fan fixing grommets. i have also blocked the hole where the second fan was remo...

the way i have done it is to take the wire for the fans out of the psu back (the grill oposite the rear fan) and then put a standard three pin connector on it. i have put it onto a mobo header, with a 100k pot inline, this way i have speed controll and can monitor the fans rpms so as to shutdown if ...

yes thats about right, you may want to poke the capacitor leads into the fan connector before putting the fan onto the mobo header, if not then be careful not to touch anything on your mobo with the bare capacitor leads- as a general rule shorting things are bad!

the type of capacitor is of little interest to you application. the different types refer to the dialectric material., its the stuff between the capacitors plates and effects the breakdown voltages and total capacitance of the device. as i say for this application it matters not. as to the max volta...

just been having a skim of the data sheet for that capacitor and looks as though ist should work fine. i would go out on a limb and say is very unlikely that you damage your mobo, however be very sure your soldering is good and you have not shorted the wires (ie the red is or could touch the black)....

i have just come back from a trip to my local hardware stores. wickes and a little local shop. i had a look at the roofing tapes. basically i wasn't sure it was the stuff you meant, as it was very thin, less that 1mm and not nearly as heavy as i had imagined. i was thinking it would be a good 2mm th...

feel free to shoot this down entirely, but if you want to isolate the psu, then would it not be more simple to duct in some fresh air in to the psu? eg a tube running to a 80mm hole from the top of the case to the cpu intake. i ask more to find out the disadvantages of my suggestion than to offer a ...

i have a zalman 120mm fan running over an AlCu flower. it wa snoisy as satans very own lawnmower even write down as low as the fanmate would go. i got to fiddling and tried a speed controller i was using for another fan. this (according to my multimeter) delivered a new minimum voltage of three volt...

sound deadening materials again

i have read through the posts that have come before, however i would like you advise on some of the options i have found. i have a cheap Aluminium case that is very thin. it does very little to deaden any noise. I know most of the noise will be escaping trough the back, but i have several strategies...

not only a gratuitous advert but surely fairly inapropriate. a 60CFM set of fans to replace a tiny screeming gpu cooler? perhaps overkill, and definately missing the point. did you not read the url before posting? there is a givaway - SILENTpcreview.com.

has anyone got anywhere on suppliers yet? specifically in the uk?
i do think the silicon acoustics price is a little steep for for small pieces of rubber/plastic. although the amount of people i have seen trying to offload standard rubber washers as specialist devices is a little offensive.
