The Globefans (model B1202512L-3M) work very well with PWM. I hear no noise at low speeds and they work down to 60 rpm. At high speeds they make a lot of noise but they also move a lot of air. They are one of the favorites in SPCR. I don't know how this compares to the Nexus, or how the Nexus behave...

I'm not sure what you mean by changing the PWM... A PWM fan signal is a square wave that has an amplitude of 12 V and a duty cycle that is variable. For instance, to achieve te equivalent of 2.4 VDC, you let the 12 VDC signal on 20% of the time and off 80% of the time, and so you get the same amount...

Changing the PWM frequency changes both the level and the frequency of the sound. Most of the people seems to find a comfortable spot around 80 Hz where the noise is not audible. In any case mCubed also offers unexpensive electronic attenuators that essentially convert the T-Balancer in a non PWM de...

I think it does what you want. The fan on/off switch problem is easily solved with this controller and in fact I have 2 fans off most of the time.

I got a BeQuiet in February and I'm very happy with it, no problem so far and very quiet. I hear my suspended Samsung HD spinning make more noise than the PS. The BeQuiet does make a clicking noise but it is very faint. I can only hear it if I stop all the fans in the computer, and even then I have ...

Security is understood in different ways at each side of the Ocean. Of course I don't want my credit card numbers to be public (frankly, I don't care for any of my passwords at home), but the risk of the number being stolen is the same when you pay with your credit card in a restaurant (at least in ...

What is full spped? It should be 1850 rpm. You can check if the thermistor works just by touching it. Go to the BIOS page where the speeds of the fans are and try what happens when you touch the sensor. You probably have to start thinking in buying a fan controller. You have plenty of opinions and s...

You're right. If you have noise at 90% you'll have always noise. That's quite unusual but the attenuator should fix it. BTW if you buy from the mCubed store the shipping fee is 'only' 5 euro. The means why a resistor lowers the rattle is because the rattle usually only happens at slow rpm (not at 90...

I think the 12 cm Acoustifans are the same that my Globefans. Maximum speed is rated to 1850 rpm and you'd expect the thermo control circuit would achieve small rpms. The truth is that the actual range I have seen in the Globefans goes from 1450 (not at idle, but at start up) to 1800 rpm, so that by...

The attenuators will avoid the problem for sure. They convert from pwm to DC level, so that you eliminate resonance at its source and you get the same performance that you'd get with a resistor (Fanmate or any non PWM controller). In any case I'd like to hear your feedback if you buy them. Meanwhile...

I've read the article and it's very interesting. SilentTek is vastly superior to the Smart fan control in my Asus MB. Regarding the limitations, from the noise point of view I think the worst is the minimum speed of about 50% (or 5/6 VDC at 0%). This fan on/off bouncing is one of the reasons why I g...

I'm also trying to have fans stopped most or at least part of the time. Right now 2 out of 4 fans are stopped 100% of the time (intake and one exhaust), even when gaming. I can safely stop the third one (second exhaust) when not gaming without any impact in stability, but then the CPU temps raise an...

The controllers in those Ahanix boxes really don't have a lot of features. As Bluefront mentions the dBox controller is manual, and the Black Knight has only 6 steps. And both set all the fans to the same voltage. My father has the Black Knight and the controller does the job but it is really basic....

I believe the noise comes from the inverter that powers the blue backlight of the display so that I planned to install an external switch to remove the 12 VDC power to the inverter. This way you can power off the display and the noise. The problem is that doing this involved some soldering in the PC...

I got it yesterday and I'm extremely happy. It does everything exactly as advertised, smoothly changes the fan speeds and you can even program it to stop them. I spent less than half an hour playing with it to find my 'good' configuration, that has turned out to be that all my fans except the PS fan...

The minimum voltage of the Hardcano 12 is 6 V. The user review you point at is wrong. Of course, 6 V may not be low enough for you, but it is not 7.75V. My CPU fan is rated for 3000 rpm and it usually runs below 1600 rpm when the computer is idle. It has a switch to select the maximum rpm between 20...
