Re: Silent PC build - first time

I'd like a new machine that actually *feels* faster in order to justify to myself the replacement. I also want a machine that's pretty future proof as it'll be another 5-7 years before I replace a new one. M.2 doesn't really feel any faster than a pro level SSD. you can also bet M.2 standards will ...

Re: Fan controller

P.s. Another thing that came into my mind would be limited access; in a completely built PC, the MB fan headers may be difficult and sometimes impossible to reach. Not a problem if they only need to be plugged in only once, but if plugging / unplugging and different schemes for controlling and some...

yes i get that. poster was worried about dust getting in PSU from top intake, hence my suggestion.

Re: Antec Solo II + GTX 980Ti: any way to optimize thermalno

what about sliding the psu forward towards middle of case, so it isnt also sucking up CPU heat? a duct/deflector plate above CPU (where bottom of PSU would normally go) would be needed. if you got crazy inventive with ducting you might be able to use front 5.25 bays as a totally separate PSU intake.

Re: AMD Wraith: Upgraded Stock Cooler

Because it's the first "new" stock cooler design from either AMD or Intel in....forever. The stock coolers are also the baseline against which all 3rd party cooler are measured, so it's important to know what the new baseline is. since it had been so long, i had hoped they just kill off stock coole...

maybe someone has the patience to explain what the fascination with this (possibly-ever-so-slightly-less-loud-than-intel-stock) fan/cooler (but-still-adds-more-cost-per-unit-cost-for-the-amd-chip) is?

I spent years in screen printing , so i squeegee the thinnest coat possible onto the heat spreader with a new razor blade. (probably not a good idea unless you have really steady hand.)

coffee filters and isopropyl make a great lint free cleaning combo.

I wasnt meaning they literally patented the cylinder, (tho im sure they tried...) if this startup is successful, the cupertino gestapo will come after with everything they have. if they can't beat them in court, they will just buy them out, and shelve the product.

Re: New i7-6700 4K video rig - Case Suggestions? M.2 specs?

there is zero reason to prefer m.2 840/50 over the sata version, unless you just want no cables for some reason. m.2 vs sata interface with 840/850 evo/pro, the speed is essentially same. even the 950 pro advantages are very minimal in real world use. m.2 bandwidth increase are only noticible when m...

i5 4430 would be a better choice over the intentionally crippled "t" part. you could always downclock it a little if you found it to be too hot in your system.
