Thank you so much

Post by Spoiler » Tue Mar 02, 2004 4:16 pm

This is my first post but I have been reading these forums for several weeks. I have to say that the advice and recommendations have probably saved my relationship with my gf. :D

My old pc used to start like a airplane taking off. My gf and I have both our pc's in the same room as the tv. If I had my pc on even though it's a good 20ft away you would have to crank the tv volume right up to hear it over my computer.

This was my previous setup:

Cooler master atc 201 case
xp1700
silver mountain cpu fan
leadtek gf4 Ti 4600
psu from some dodgy computer store
plus other bits

I don't know what was causing all the noise. I think it was probably the gf4. Whatever it was it wasnt nice.

After readin this site I went and got myself:

Lian li 6070
Zalman 300w psu
Hightech Iceq 9800 Pro
P4 w/ supplied fan
plus the other random bits

When I first turned it on I thought it wasn't working. But to my suprise it was, I just couldnt hear it! After living with the noisy beast I had before I just thought that pc's were noisey.

Now it's my gf with the noisy pc. Nowhere near as noisey as my old one but a hell of a lot more noisey than this one.

Fortunately, she bought a new setup at the same time but is just waiting for her psu to arrive. Soon we will be experience the joys of silence. We couldn't have done it without you guys.

Thank you again.

Dr.CrackEnHore,

he's just being grateful. Just accept it instead of complaining -- myself, I just love it when my nerdish interests are accepted by others in this way :)

Oh, and Spoiler -- welcome to the SPCR forums!!

Just a thought... With two comps sat there... have you considered 'Folding @ Home' with them?

Will give you an idea about it.

Any questions, just post them in the Folding Forum.

Once again Welcome

Pete speaks the truth. Your PC isn't truly quiet unless it's silent even while under load. :D
