Fan from Scythe claims to be quieter than Nexus??

Post by NovionSolarius » Fri Feb 17, 2006 6:54 pm

I received a weekly newsletter from this company I have purchased from before, and noticed a new fan from Scythe. Since Scythe made the ginormous Ninja heatsink I am currently using, I decided to check it out.

Sorry for the lack of formatting, but this is a copy paste of the claims of the new product, the Scythe S-Flex SFF21 models.

Model # Dimensions Fan Speed Fan Noise Air Flow Rated Current Sku#
SFF21D 120x120x25mm 800rpm 8.7dBA 33.5CFM 0.10A 840556025443
SFF21E 120x120x25mm 1,200rpm 20.1dBA 49.0CFM 0.15A 840556025450
SFF21F 120x120x25mm 1,600rpm 28.0dBA 63.7CFM 0.20A 840556025467

Compared against nexus D12SL-12:
Rotation Speed 1000 RPM
Acoustic Noise 22.8 dB(A)
Airflow 36.87 CFM

For models D (obviously) and E, the Scythe fans' qualifications exceed the Nexus ones!! An impressive claim, but can it be verified? I don't see a review of this product on the main page, so I'm hoping to bring attention to it so that it might get one.

I checked the FAQs and saw I should read a certain article regarding asking the manufacturer to send a sample, but the link was broken. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I thought it was an intriguing development. Hopefully someone more knowing can look into it further.
