New Apple Mac Mini Core Duo released
1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor
512MB memory (667MHz DDR2 SDRAM)
80GB Serial ATA hard drive
Double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Old Mac Mini had power, 10/100 Ethernet, modem jack, DVI, two USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 400 port and 1/8" headphone/line out in the rear.
All Mac mini models also include an integrated Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64MB of shared DDR2 SDRAM(1), 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, four external USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 400 port, optical digital and analog audio in/out, and built-in mono speaker.
The increase of usb ports is pretty nice imo. New Mac Mini also has 2 dimm slots as opposed to one slot in G4 version.
I'm haven't seen any reviews on it. Would be nice to know if they have done some changes to the cooling. Overall it sounds like a pretty nice machine for 799$.
There's also a Core Solo version with 60gb HD and on DVD-ROM/cd-rw for 599$.
I'd still wait for Mac Minis with merom processors...

they look nice, and its good to see they've tweaked the few things that bugged people about the 1st version (eg usb)..
however, they're loosing the sub $500 point.. if they'd used a celeronM in the base model perhaps they'd have been able to keep the price the same (atleast, working by retail pricing)..
i'm guessing a core solo is just an updated pentium M? (or regular one?).. is it anywhere else or just in the mac mini?..
if its updated and in the mac mini only, then it could be one of the coolest processors around!
however.. i dont get what you would use a dual core processor in that mac mini for?
not much good for games because of the IGP
not much good for video editing; small hdd
not much good for outputing HDTV; small hdd, no slot for a tv card, and no HD-DVD or Blueray..
obviously its nice to have the power anyway.. and you could have Hdd, BDrom, HDtv card via usb.. but, not ideal.
and why not FW800?
