PURE SILENCE at last!

I have always wanted a small and fanless unit, but most are usually either too expensive or too slow or runs too hot. I have found the answer. Dell Latitude X1. Its a perfect balance of size, speed, heat and price. It comes with a ULV P-M 1.1Ghz. Which is sufficient for what i do, except gaming. Coding, watching movies, browsing is perfect. I sometimes forget if its on, even when i try hard to listen!

The only noise it makes is from the HDD. Its not bad, but still hearable if u listen for it up close. When everthing is loaded onto RAM the computer is virtually silent! The server i build around using an Antec Sonata (SPCR standards) seems loud compared to a fanless unit.

All in all, i found it great. If anyone can find one of these machines with a broken monitor for cheap. Go for it!

Isn't the screen a little small for watching movies at only 12 inches?

Really? I find my Latitude X1 quite noisy... It's noiser than my desktop at least.

The hard drive makes a high pitched whiney noise.

Nope HDD whiney, makes humming sounds. Maybe u got a faulty one?
