Determining make and model of a PSU

Post by Wedge » Wed Mar 26, 2003 3:14 pm

My dad recently bought a Compaq Presario 6370US. It's a 2.53Ghz p4 fsb 533MHz. This computer is amazingly quiet. The only time it makes an appreciable amount of noise is when the optical drives spin. This is what spurred my interest in getting a quiet PSU.

I opened his case to view the PSU sticker. It says:
BST ATX-1956D
BESTEC
Output rating 200W (Max)
Rev: B2

additionally it lists the Part Number, which is actually denoted by HP (Hewlitt-Packard).

Is it possible to determine which brand PSU this actually is?

Have you tried typing the model number in google?

It helped me to discover where or who it is made by.

I've googled BST ATX-1956D and come up with an HP forum board message. Totally useless one at that.

If you find something informative let me know please.

From the looks of it, one can only buy in bulk?

It probably doesn't matter. I have pretty much decided to go with either the 300 or 400 watt Zalman or the 300 watt nexus. Just need somebody to nudge me in the right direction.....
