Huge thanks to everyone especially thejamppa. This was the first the build i've done in like 4 years so it was a huge step. Quality of the pics aren't that good mainly because i took them with the nokia n95.

I am measuring my temps with speedtemp, if you know of any other free software please recommend them, if you want more pics say so. By the way onboard sound is terrific these days.

General word of advice, dont get the Antec Solo the p182 is way better, the solo seems jam packed. Also make sure that you put the psu first before anything else.[/b]

edit; ok i've turned the nexus 120mm around so its blowing out, and i've attached a 90mm nexus to the front which is connected to fan mate2. its on the lowest speed setting.

here are my temps, i would like to the run the cpu fan at full rpm and lower of the 120mm nexus what do you guys think?

This is pretty close to what I'm going to build for my new system.The only differences for my build will be a C2D (8400), only the 500GB hard drive, and a different motherboard. I still want to stick with the Solo though.

With the Antec Solo case you can run nearly all the power supply cables, SATA cables and any unused front panel connectors behind the motherboard tray.

It makes the layout a lot tidier and gives you more space to work with.

Just a word of note - you'll have to adjust the Core temperatures up by 15 degrees in SpeedFan to get accurate readings. You can set this in the Advanced tab of the settings.

Otherwise, a nice setup indeed.

Is there a reason the Nexus Fan at the back is reversed? Surely flipping it would work better with the cpu cooler blowing towards it.

wow, yeah, darkb is right. there's a pocket of air that wont go anywhere unless you flip that fan around and make it blow outward. the four posts to the fan hub are the side that the fan blows towards. also, somewhere on the edge of the fan, there are two arrows indicating the direction of spin and the airflow direction.

got a question, i have 3 fan mates. I am just wondering if i need them, since the abit mobo allows me to control two fans that are attached to it.

well, technically no, you don't need them if you can control the fans via the motherboard, but i'd hold onto them, you never know when a fanmate might be handy, for another computer, or adding a fan somewhere.

It cuts down seek noise a lot. I can't think of any reason not to use them!

Uh, no? It would be very hard to get those temps on stock cooling unless you turn the fan up to 100% or something, which obviously increases noise.

Depends how you define "good". Anything under thermal limits could be considered good for some people, which could be 90-100C load. Anyway, not to start an argument here...

Hello guys,

I'm getting slightly worried, my temperature is constantly at 50C even when i'm not doing anything, If I do something computationally demanding such as compiling the raises up to 56C and higher. I'm using the sensors-applet 1.8.2 under Fedora 9, and the temperature ---as reported by the gnome clock applet--- is 20 C.

have you checked for dust? i think that's most likely your issue.
