Dampened Antec Three Hundred
Even system is in my signature, not all bother to read them so I put them here:
Case: Antec Three Hundred W/ 3x 800 RPM Scythe Slipstream 800 RPM fan (( 1 x 12v and 2x 9v ) and Scythe Kazu-Maru 1200 RPM 140mm fan Mobo controlled ( usually around <- 800 rpm )
Motherboard: Giagbyte P35-DS3L
CPU: Intel E8400 Wolfendale
HDD: Seagate 7200.10 SataII 160 GB
Memory: Mushkin 2x2Gb 5-5-5-18
CPU Cooler: Thermalright SI-128 SE W/ Scythe S-Flex E 1200 RPM
VGA card: Club 3D Ati Radeon HD 4850 512mb GDDR3
GPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Acclero S1 Rev. 2 W/ Scythe S-flex D 800 RPM
PSU: Corsair HX 620
Extra's: 4x Sharkoon 10cm CCFL white, modded and painted for Amberish tone.
The messy place my poor computer is situated. I do hope some peoples don't take those southern flags offensive though. Not that I am white supremacist / supporter or slavery or anything. I just like their flag as design better than I liked Unions / current USA flag. Its more artistic.
Front panel. Nothing weird in here. Looks like as out of box Three Hundred unless you look closely thru front mesh.
Nothing mazing on side panel either, few smudgy finger prints. I left side panel open, as Accelero S1 + 120mm fan combo places very nicely on it, helping in ventilation.
The back panel. Of course fan grille hasd to be go. Its very open but still. Its good to have also Three Accelero S1's. I used their ventilation brackets to make surroundings above and below HD 4850 to breath easier.
The top panel with Scythe Kaze-Maru. You can see bit the attachment, but more to come later. Fan grill is there, because I need certain holes, thanks tio Kaze-Marus 120m fan attachment holes. Otherwise I would have cut fan grille away and put a 140mm wire grille... black one of course.
Another angle for top. You can see better the attachment.
What I used to attach kaze-Maru. Below is regular unaltered version and top is one I used with Kazemaru. I simply pressed the plastic pin thru piece of rubber to prevent it fall thru. Rather simple solution.
Side panel. First layer is heavy rubber bitumen mat and on it has been glued Akasa PaxMate II foam on it.
The other panel. Same thing.
The general system shot. Nothing major. All fans are 120mm or larger. Wire mess seems to be quite bad, but matter of fact, they hinder none of the air flow as they are attach on hooks to mobo tray.
As seen here, most of the cables are away from airflow path. You can also see Sharkoon VibeFixer, which is FLexMagic or
similar 5,25" expansion slot rubber suspension I've seen here.
Front panel without mesh. Fna grilles gone and you get better view of suspension.
The top with two layers of bitumen mat added.
The cable clutter behind HDD tray. There is generous space to tug A LOT wires. I really missed this feature in Nine Hundred.
How much did the Bitumen mat added mass? With sides and roof fully layered with bitumen and bottom of case partially, the case is heavier than P182. With everything in, its heavier than my fully assembled P182. With good few kg's.
So far this is nice and quiet but I may have to change that seagate HDD away. That noisiest part in that system currently.
Edited: Damn imageshack and their codes....

Your first picture of the case (front) isn't right. It's the picture of the room again.
I don't care about the flag, but that chair offends me.
Question, why do you need the 120mm intake fans? All of your heatsinks have fans on them, and you should have plenty of airflow. If you need more airflow for the video card, maybe your should open up some of the PCI covers below the GPU and fab a filter if you need it. It might help keep the GPU HS cooler without added noise.

That chair "offends" me too, but that chair was my father's handy work. He died when I was 3. Kinda memento Mori for me. I think I could re-paint it in summer... Besides if chair is too comfy I would game longer period of times in row ^.~
Those fans, well, I am aspie ( person with asperger's syndrome ) So, I can't exactly explain but its like I HAVE TO have those fans. I tried without fans. And it bothered me so much. Its like if things seem to miss something, it feels uncompleted. I am not sure why I am not affected that way on side panel hole. But I know if I don't have fans front in three hundred it bothers me seriously. I know I really don't need them... I guess I am just weird because of asperger. I really cannot explain that but I know I HAVE to have those fans in front or it will bother me like tooth ache...
Edit: Thanks for notifying me the broken image. Its fixed now

Not an expert on the subject but from what I've read, it could be Asperger's. There seems to be an overlap in a lot of psychological disorders.CallmeRoth wrote:I'm pretty sure filling the fan spaces because they are just there is a result of OCD, not Asperger syndrome. I may be thinking with ignorance but my understanding is that Asperger affects your social behavior.
there are overlapping issues with OCD in AS, here's a paper on it http://www.ocfoundation.org/UserFiles/F ... etween.pdf
it's not becaue they're there, it's because they're incomplete. there's a difference. Imagine a stamp collection with 1 stamp missing...

While OCD and other problems associated with AS varies from person to person and as intresting it is, we are slightly off topic though. But I can have that I have OCD behaviour when it comes to number 5 or 7. And when i need to get all things equalized, like my Accelro S1 on HD 4850 which I lost one plastic spacer I had to make one myself, since otherwise corners would not be equal if one would miss a a plastic spacer One corner would be different... Not going to work
As I grow older, my tendencies for perfectionism is growing. Especially when it comes silencing...
But so far my OCD is best seen when it comes to silencing computer and getting rid of high pitched noises. Slowly going towards inaudiable and vibration free system... My main rig is already such. Now I am slowing aiming my game rig to be similar.

That is quite simple actually. I go get broken bike inntertube from local bike repairshop, since its trash they give it to me free. You could buy U-rubber from specialist shops, however this is free.antivenom wrote:Very nice build, I have an Antec 300 myself and I was wondering, what did you use to line the fan holes in the case after you cut them?
When you have innertube, I cut it with scissors and wash it, since it has lot's of white dust inside. After that I cut the sides of with scissors. I usually reserve 5mm from the sides and cut both sides off. That gives me 2x straight general use rubber, which I use to build suspensions or use as fan cushions etc and the 2x u-rubber. When you cut properly the inner tube, you get 2 x u-rubbers fit for your needs, which I use to clean up tin snip.
Its bit longway around but cheaper than buying a ready u-rubber. U-rubber is easy to glue with some super glue. Fast and effective.
