Ever Case 4252 Fitting Heatsinks

Post by thunkerdo » Mon Jul 19, 2004 9:58 am

I am about to purchase the Ever Case 4252 from newegg.com. In addition I will be purchasing the seasonic super silencer 400 w PSU and the asus a8v deluxe. I have a socket 939 athlon 64 processor and in the need for a heatsink. I found the zalman CNPS7000-Cu to be ideal, but just read that it won't fit in the ever case 4252. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what will be cool, quiet, and of the appropriate size for this setup. Also any fan that should go with the heatsink and will fit as well.

Thanks

Oh yeah, do I need any Ever Case accesories to help siilence the HDD? I was going to do a stretch magic suspension, but decided not to because this is my first pc to build.

1. The SP-97 fits with about a centimeter between it and the power supply.
2. The stock hard drive mounts are pretty quiet. They use larger grommets than the Antec Sonata. You need to buy the grommets separately, and you need to make screws for mounting the hard drives out of a motherboard standoff and a screw.

Looking at the position of the CPU socket in that ASUS board, I don't think you'd have any trouble with the Z7000. It's only when the socket is right on the edge of the board that there might not be enough room between the PSU and big HSF in the Evercase.

Unless someone has actually tried this and reported that it doesn't fit...

Thanks, MikeC. As a stated earlier, I am a beginner at this. So, could someone explain to me if I need a fan for the heatsink?

Thanks

Zalman 7000 has an integrated 92mm fan.

I got a similar setup a few days ago except I use the older AMD 64 socket; same PSU, same case, also an ASUS mobo. I used an SLK 948U and it fit ok; I like it so far.

A quiet one--they all fit

I just remembered this: I had to mod the mounting plate. I cut off part of it so it didn't touch one of those things that act as mobo standoffs.
