Planing to buy Antec P150. Updated..
I'm planing to buy an Antec P150. I seen there were issue with regards the included power unit, and certain boards.
I'm wondering if the issue with the power unit is still prevalent with versions currently shipping?
The system that would transfered into the case is listed below including the current unit that powers it.
For now only one fan a yate loon.
[*]CPU: Opteron 148 @ 2.8
[*]Cooling: Scythe Ninja
[*]MB: BioStar T-Force 939
[*]RAM: 1.5GB (2x 512 MB) Infineon (2x256) Kingston HyperX DDR 400
[*]GFX: Geforce 6100
[*]DVD: Nec ND-3550A
[*]HD1: Samsung MP0402H 40GB
[*]HD2 : WD800JD SATA-80GB
[*]HD3 : WD2500YS SATA-250GB
[*]PSU: Silverstone SST-ST365
[*]CRT: 21"Hitachi CM821F
Would there be any issues using the unit included with the P150?
Also as you can see it's nothing power hungry.

The lowest i have seen them is 115$ with the psu,and with shipping
Anyway it seems the consensus around here is to avoid the p150 with the included neo he430.
Yet there seems to be some members who have had luck using these cases with the supplied power unit.
My case search will continue...

That statement was not a knock on you.
I was simply saying that reading some of the p150 threads on here gives the impression that that case should be avoided cause of the power unit included with it.
I bought my P150 last year, in, uh, September. The case was manufactured in June, and the PSU was made in May. I sold the PSU to a friend where it works perfectly and with no glitches whatsoever. I already had S12 430 but initially wanted to keep the NeoHE for its modular cables. The S12 proved significantly quieter, especially under load and after a few hours of operation, so NeoHE had to go. From what I hear & read, the problems with the PSU are now history, and all units made in 2006 will work OK. Taken its April 2007 now, there is practically no chance to get an old PSU, or older than half a year, for that matter.
Sorry, didn't see the MP0402H which indeed may be the quietest of them allSD-Plissken wrote:Noisy not at all.Atmosper wrote:should be just fine.
3 HDDs though, won't that get a little noisy?
The Samsung MP0402H is a 2,5" laptop drive, and the other two quiet using a stretch magic suspension mod in the current case.
Thanks for the input. if anyone has more to add please feel free to ..
I'm running a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 suspended for OS and programs and a quite audible Samsung 200 GB for storage also suspended. The Samsung spins down when not in use. Silence is bliss
I love my P150. I bought a different PSU since I bought the P150 when it first came out and the NeoPower 430w PSU it came with had issues with some Asus motherboards (which is the type of board I had).
It's been a wonderful case and the ONLY thing I can say I dislike about it is that I measured and an 8800 series NVidia card will not fit in it.

Don't worry, yacoub Only the GTX is a tad too long. GTS will fit fine. People have GTS's in Solos and P150's - seen it many times. I have a 7900GTX wich is exactly as long as a 8800GTS and I have plenty of room. Plenty - meaning the HDD and cables have no issues.yacoub wrote:It's been a wonderful case and the ONLY thing I can say I dislike about it is that I measured and an 8800 series NVidia card will not fit in it.
See? The middle one is 7900GTX, the bottom one is 8800GTS.

Antec does not take my method of payment so their B-stock is out of the question.ultrachrome wrote:Have you considered Antec B-stock? $100 shipped.
I purchased two B-stock P150s this year and both PSUs worked fine with Asus motherboards. One is an A8N5X and the other is a P5B Deluxe.
Thanks though.

Hey everyone, I too have been considering a P150. Actually, I was looking for a way to quiet my HDD's, and my SmartPower has started to whine, and for the price, I though a P150 is a good deal. (Quiet case + Quiet PSU) I have a Gigabyte board, so I'm not worried about incompatibility.
My only questions were how is the B-Stock different from the regular P150? Is there something wrong or missing? And how do you think they look? The silver on white, doesn't appeal to me much, (white is fine, skeptical about the silver. Don't care too much about matching components.)
Thanks! (Not a hijack, just an extension)

From reading around the most one can expect is scratches/scuff marks.
Have been using Provantage for several years with no problems whatsoever. Bought an Antec NSK6500, delivery was quick and in perfect shape from their warehouse in Pa.Plan to buy this case in the coming days, and wondered if anyone here has dealt with provantage when buying their cases.
In my opinion and experience, if you like the price you won't regret placing an order with them.

I'm very happy with my p150. I bought it at Newegg, 100 USD including shipping. For the money, it's the best quiet ATX case available. The Solo has some slight cosmetic changes, and does not come with the Neo HE430, so it's not quite as good a bargain as the p150.
I bought my case this year and have had no problems with the power supply (although my motherboard is an ancient socket A board with the older ATX power connector). The detachable power cords are brilliant, although I would have liked a little more cable between each Molex.
My only complaint about the p150 is that the HDD LED is very bright. Everything else is just about perfect.

Contact Antec and see if they'll send you one of these free of charge:
http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=505
EDIT: I guess you'll need one of these too:
http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=420
That's shockingly bad condition for something that comes straight from the manufacturer!

They also said they where sending a replacement P150 Front Bezel.
Looks like this may be a case of just getting old stock. I wont really know till the replacement power unit come back.

Update.
I received a replacement case dated Jan 06, and was able to test the system with the neohe430 that was in it. The unit was a revA4 s0604XXXXXXX, and the system ran fine.
I had to put that power unit in the damaged case to be returned to the company though.
A new neohe 430 is on the way to replace the one that I had shipped to antec, and it should be here tomorrow.
So it seems this is a case of getting old stock.
