8800GT card fit in Antec Solo case

Post by gerry » Sat Mar 15, 2008 2:34 pm

Hi
I have an Antec Solo case with SeaSonic S12 430watt PSU fitted and I'm considering using the 8800GT video card in a major upgrade. I'll only be using one WD640G hard drive, no RAID and no SLI so will have plenty of free space. Is anyone using an 8800GT in a Solo case? I have heard that they are a long card and fitting in some cases can be a bit of a problem.

GT is shorter than Gtx so fitting them in Solo shouldn't be too much of an trouble. GTX and HD 3870x2 with Rev 11 PCB are VGA cards that do not fit in Solo. Rev 12 in x2 should be shorter ( and with GDDR4 )

I have this card (actually might be a slightly older revision) in my solo, it seems to be a bit longer than some other 8800GT's and the rear power connector can interfere with with hard drive cables.

In general you shouldn't have any major problems especially considering you have only one hard drive. Also such a long card can be useful as a baffle

Both the 8800GT and the 8800GTS G92 fit just fine. It is the older GTX that requires cutting a notch in the HD cage. The only problem you might experience is the graphic card making it difficult accessing some of the SATA connectors (with some motherboard layouts).

There is no problem, I have the refenrence 8800gt in my p150 (same thing as solo) with 2 hard drive. The only thing is you cannot install an hard drive at the same height it will not have enough space.
