Smallest mini-ITX case?

Post by AuraAllan » Mon Nov 24, 2008 10:43 am

Hi there.

What is the smallest mini-ITX case available?

I need room for:
ITX-board with pico.
2.5" HDD.

Thats it.

So what is the smallest case? Preferable with no excess space.

I'd guess something from Silverstone's Industrial line.

For example http://www.silverstonetek.com/OEM/d_cas ... odel=PT-07

Heres one that fits your bill: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/5677

Heres another one, slightly larger but allows a 2.5" drive as well as a slim optical drive: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/c134b

And heres one that will allow a 2.5" drive, a slim optical drive and a full hight expansion card: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/c156b

Thats pretty nice but a bit wide at 85mm. If it allowed a slim optical drive 85mm would be okay.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

That Morex 5677 looks good. Could be useful. Thanks.

The 2 casetronic cases seems to be made for EPIA boards with special backplates for EPIA. :?

The next model does just that; same appearance but a slim optical -- in the back, actually.

Yes I know it allows any mini-itx board but will a normal backplate fit in these cases?

Looking at these pictures the cases seems to have some special backplates designed only to fit the EPIA boards.

Hey, I just saw these and they look pretty small! I don't know if they're small enough, though. Probably depends on what you want to fit inside of it!

Hi Strid.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think i'll have to build one myself.
I can't seem to find anything that fits my bill exactly.

all cases come with a default backplate. look at the cases. its just your standard size i/o cutout. you can take the backplate that comes with your motherboard and substitute it for the default one.

Okay. Your post gave me my question in an understandable way and my answer.

What I should have asked was: "Will a "normal" i/o plate fit in these cases?"

Thanks :)
