From: P182 To: Solo or Lian Li?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

From: P182 To: Solo or Lian Li?

Post by seasponge » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:04 pm

The P182 is just too big, especially since I moved to a smaller space. I have had the solo before but was thinking about maybe trying a Lian Li since I have been using antecs for every case for years. I want something small but that still fits an ATX mobo and big graphics cards, and of course my xigmatek s1283.

P182: 21.3" (H) x 8.1" (W) x 19.9" (D) TOO BIG!

Solo:17" (H) x 8.1" (W) x 18.5" (D)

Most Lian Li's are around: 19.29" x 8.27" x 17.72"

Quietness is a concern, will a lian li be disappointing to me after using solos and p182s?

I guess I should note that while I very much appreciate a nice quiet computer, I am not looking for the ultimate in silence or anything like that...

If anyone can give me case suggestions or any opinions on lian li's I would be grateful.

If you want to use large video cards forget about the Solo, unless you plan on butchering the hard drive cage to make them fit. (I regret replacing my good ol' SLK3000B for the Solo)

Have a look at Lancool and in particular the PC-K10. The Lancool series are built around a SECC steel structure and so should have less vibration noise than Lian Li's all-aluminum cases. By the way, Lancool is a subsidiary of Lian Li. :)

I'm having a hard time myself deciding between the P182 and the K10.

I second K10 as an very nice option. A friend of mine got that case and it's a very, very good base for a nice, quiet system.

thanks for the responses..

I am not really into the look of the K10 but the K7B looks pretty nice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811112154

Some of the reviews say the hard drive cage is too close to the front intake fans
