What kind of fan setup for Fractal Design Define R2?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

What kind of fan setup for Fractal Design Define R2?

Post by Leopardi » Tue Jul 06, 2010 9:49 pm

I want a quiet system, that can handle a ~4GHz X6 1090T and a Radeon 5850. By quiet I mean it must do clearly less noise than Antec P180B with the tricools on low.

After long thinking I've come to a conclusion that I should get 4x Gentle Typhoon 800rpm, and place them in front, back, top & bottom. I thought about slip streams too but the sleeve bearings drove me away.

Would this kind of setup provide sufficient airflow while keeping it silent? Any ideas?

GT 1450's + A fan controller?

800's will do (but have to be undervolted to 700RPM to be completely inaudible). So you'll have some headroom with GT 1450's and a fan controller.

I'll be fine without a fan controller if it's almost inaudible at 800rpm. Is there some general rule, e.g. you need more CFM for exhaust? Or is it good to have same amount of air being pushed in and out?
