We are #23 again

Post by haysdb » Mon Apr 12, 2004 5:28 pm

According to Stanford, we have slipped quietly past EOC for 23rd place. This should be reflected in the 9 o'clock update of the EOC stats page. Image

David,

Why does your sig say the team is in 22nd place? It always seems to be one place higher than where people say the team is in. Is the first place team in "0th" place?

Maybe midnight (hopefully, I'll be asleep) -- the 9pm'r still has us about 500pts back

Good question. I don't know. Stanford and EOC agree on our ranking, at 24 in the process of moving up to 23. In order for us to be #22, some team would have to be omitted. I have asked this question in the "DCS Stats & Signatures FAQ" at liquidninjas.com, after searching their forums for an answer.

I think it's usually 2 different (ie., 24 to 22) and that it's somehow related to the two "aggregate" teams (Google and Default). Not sure how or why though (I think I read it somewhere...)

I'll bet you are right. They probably still have us listed at #24, as EOC does, and they are subtracting two for the two aggregate teams, Google and Default, but these two are no longer listed in the rankings at Stanford, so the LN stats are off by two. After the next update, the sig will probably list us as #21.

Edit: Oops, spoke to soon, it already does. It's definitely off by 2.

Hey Zyzzyx, there isn't any code in the skin, is there, which subtracts 2?

Congratulations to all of the silent crowd on another quiet but decisive overtake. Onward for both our teams then, toward the citadel of "sound and fury, signifying nothing". We of Team Mac OS X will be following your stealthy progress (and sharp wit!) over the coming weeks as the battle is joined.

Best wishes,
susato
