no sound after waking up from S3 sleep state...

Post by mr. poopyhead » Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:00 pm

i've decided that it's not really worth leaving my HTPC on 24/7 just to fold... so today i set it to go to sleep after 10 mins of inactivity...

now the problem is that when i return from sleep, the sound is no longer working. anyone else ever encounter this problem? i've searched the forum but found nothing... google found a windows KB article about it, but it doesn't apply to my soundcard chipset....

i'm running winXP SP2, earthwatts 380 PSU, MSI KM4M-V motherboard, m-audio revo 5.1 (via envy24)...

any help would be great. thanks!

Usually a driver issue when resuming from standby. Check to make sure you have the latest drivers and windows updates. Also try S1 and S4 (Hibernate) to see if the problem is repeatable in those states.

if it is a driver issue, i'm SOL... after 4 years, the revo 5.1 is still using driver version 1.0.0.0 ... either m-audio is lazy, or they created the perfect driver to begin with.... i think i'll give them a call and see what they have to say...

i've tried using via's own drivers for the envy24 chip, but for some reason they don't work with the revo 5.1

I've had the same problem with a Chaintech AV-710 which is also based on the Envy24. Let me know if you find a solution...

You’re lucky you managed to get S3 working at all with an M-audio board. I had an Audiophile 2496 and it broke S3 support completely. I spoke with M-Audio and they disdainfully told me that they don’t support STR at all in their drivers. I sold that ASAP.
