I should have known the monitors were active, me being silly again..

I'm using a Nikon D300 with a few lenses; 18-200VR, 10-20 Sigma (mine is tack sharp from 10 to 20mm btw - lots of sample variation with these), 50mm F1.8, tokina 28-80 F2.8 and 80-200 F2.8 ..

Wow, that's some seriously nice kit 8) ... Like test driving a car I couldn't afford, I had a brief shot of a D300 in my local shop last month when I was looking at tripods and just... wow.

As for my other lenses I've got a 50mm f1.7 and a beercan I managed to pick up before prices went through the roof. Absolutely stunning lens - wouldn't part with it for the world. I feel quite bumped about my Sigma though - ah well, luck of the draw I suppose! I want to get a travel lens but that'll be some time down the road as bitter experience tells me to stump up for a decent one or I'll end up regretting it.

You could always send it in for calibration, that usually helps :)

You are saying is that it is wrong to question the merit of other people's actions because they were being "creative". As an intentionally provocative example, when they created a mushroom cloud over Hiroshima, some of us may be poised to ask the question was it worth it?

When you say it is "waste of time" to do these things, you can do whatever you want with your time (such as make inane posts on the internet), but what right do you have to question how other people spend their time?

I can do whatever I want... I never said they couldn't do whatever they wanted. I just don't admire it, in the same way I don't admire the artwork of Jackson Pollock.

Cheers for the advice. I emailed Sigma and they got straight back to me saying just to send it in. Added bonus is I'll get it back before I go on holiday :)

Don't be too sure about that - mine took over eight weeks to calibrate. In the meantime, I inherited some money and bought a really nasty kit: D700, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8

Anyone need a calibrated Sigma 10-20 for Nikon, btw :D

We're getting quite OT here...

 indeed.

Sigma UK said current turnaround is 2-3 weeks, perhaps I'll not take the chance till I come back as I'm going away in 4.

I'm considering pimping up my old fileserver for that site, haha.

Not pimping as in watercooling and lights, just doing a seriously clean build with lots of drives...
