Resolution for TV w/ XBox?

What is the best VGA quality for XBOX 360 on my Samsung HD? I just got the VGA adaptor for my XBOX 360 and now I have several choices on set-up but my TV manual is not helping. These choices are in the XBOX 360 Menu. The choices range from 640x480 to 1920x1080. Currently I have it set to 1280x720. I also have the choice of Reference Levels (Standard, Intermediate or Expanded). Its says that picture quality will be downgraded if not suppored by my TV but again I can't find it in the 100pg + manual. My TV is a Samsung DLP 720P HL-S5686W. Thanks for your help.

If your TV is a 720p display, (it is) then I would set the resolution at 1280x720, which is 720p. I'm not sure what you mean by the "Reference Levels".
