They make noise, too.

Spare parts for VF700?

Post by jqbagley » Fri Aug 05, 2005 10:53 am

I just bought a Zalman VF700, but one of the "Nipple A" parts was unthreaded, so I can't install the thing.

I've already attempted to contact Zalman Support, but who knows how long it will take for them to get moving on this.

Anyone out there (in the US) have an extra "Nipple A" part that they could send me? Thanks!

Can't you just return it to the store you bought it from?

I could do that. I ordered it online, so I'm hoping that the hassle of receiving one small part in the mail will be less than sending back the whole thing, waiting for a replacement, and hoping that doesn't have bad parts also.

I had that problem once with a ZM80C and they shot me an email reply and mailed me a replacement ziploc bag of screw and nipples and bits within a few days. I'd give them a few days.

Same as above, Zalman is super nice about replacement mounting hardware. Emailed them once for 7000AlCu replacement mounts for an A64, even told them i cut the thing to fit on a non-recommended board and they shipped me a new one that arrived in less than 3 days. Excellent service.

Interitus, finlandia, thanks for the replies. I emailed Zalman Wednesday, so I'll give them a few more days.

The thought of quieting down my xfx 6600gt agp has got me chomping at the bit to get this replacement part!

If you're really in a hurry, you could always go and get the die for the thread they're using and thread it yourself. Just take the part thta is threaded into a shop that sells taps and dies to match it. I'd expect it to be metric. :D

Twelve days later, Zalman sent me a baggie of parts for the VF700.

I installed today, and here are my temps (ambient is 33 C):

Before/After
Idle - 40C/33C
Load - 75C/50C

That's a 25C improvement at load!

The noise level of my system has dropped dramatically (at idle).

Next victim: that stock AMD heatsink/fan on my 3400+ Clawhammer.

By the way, if anyone needs spare parts for their VF700, let me know!
