They make noise, too.

I have the origional Radeon card that was released with 32mb. The fan on it, a small one about the size of a 50 cent piece, is going out and getting very noisy.
My question is:
1. could I just unhook the fan and blow another larger quieter fan at it?
2. Remove the existing fan and heatsink and put something else on there?
3. Replace it with a new card that does not have a fan. I don't do any gaming anymore just picture editing, web surfing, and thats about it. so if I do replace it what would be a good inexpensive card?

I would remove the existing heatsink/fan and replace it with a Zalman zm17. I did this on my wifes AIW version of the card and it works great, silent and cool. Check this forum for more zm17 info. I you need suggestions on removing the old fan I can post a method I used on my two ATI AIW cards.

That's exactly what I recommend as well.

I did option 1 with the Original Radeon 64MB in my parents' computer.
Using an extra 80mm fan i took out of the PSU blowing at 5 volts.
