Well, I've got one, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's the "best". There are more powerful passive cards (like the 5750), which also uses less watts and runs cooler. And "best" in what sense? Many people are probably looking for a much lower spec card, especially if they don't game. In that case there are lots of cheaper, more efficient and cooler cards on the market.1IGRACH wrote:Well this is the best passive http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA ... uctID=3104
Don't get me wrong, the 9800GT Silent Cell is a good card, but there are alternatives (though you still can't get a passive 5750 here in Australia).
Cheers!
Well if ure not in for gaming u should get some of these Nettops ( intel ATOM, Nvidia ION) and u can watch full HD and even play some stadard games ( CS ,WOW, wc3,COFJ).
If ure in gaming u best get some of new cards whit activ cooling, ppl say that they are prety silent, like http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/News/VGA/New ... ewsID=1518
Passiv card is like edge whit two blades because u gota have case fans to blow hot air out.

Asus passive Radeon HD 5570:

Powercolor Go! Green passive Radeon HD 5570:
AX5570 1GBK3-NS3H
Powercolor Go! Green passive Radeon HD 5670:

And, of course, just about every Radeon HD 5450 is both low-profile and passive.

No idea sorry. The best I can find is this link http://www.techpowerup.com/144081/Power ... tured.html which just says "PowerColor's new HD 6850 SCS3 finally taken shape, and will launch soon."SilentStorm wrote: any idea when that 6850 will be available?
I'm not sure how much longer the 6850 line is going to be around, PowerColor better get a move on.

Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
You can still easily find a wide selection of HD 3000 series video cards in 2011. And the same goes for HD 4000, HD 5000, so why would you expect they need to hurry to make passive HD 6000 cards?grimreeper wrote:No idea sorry. At least where I am cards will hang around for a long time but as they will only get cheaper for so long. After which they start to get more expensive as they become harder to source and as newer better value cards are released.dhanson865 wrote:You can still easily find a wide selection of HD 3000 series video cards in 2011. Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
I think that is true the world over, but maybe it's worse in Australia?grimreeper wrote:At least where I am cards will hang around for a long time but as they will only get cheaper for so long. FWIW the prices on newegg for the low end fanless cards is
Radeon HD 3450 $35
Radeon HD 4350 $41
Radeon HD 5450 $38
Radeon HD 6450 $53
Still fanless:
Radeon HD 4670 $75
Radeon HD 5670 $103
Radeon HD 5750 $135
There isn't a high power fanless HD 3000 series card still in stock. And the high power fanless HD 6000 cards haven't shown up yet.
And with fan:
Radeon HD 4850 $120
Radeon HD 5830 $160
Radeon HD 6850 $160
I think the effect you mention is much more of an issue as you get into cards where supply is extremely low. I saw that effect the most with AGP cards being more expensive than PCIe and the gap increased as AGP became less common.
But the start of all this was saying somebody better hurry to make fanless HD 6000 cards before AMD stops making the chips. I'm just saying supply of the HD 6000 series chips won't be an issue for years to come. I don't think anybody has to hurry. I'm not seeing any shortage of supply of prior generation parts.
Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
Any news about HD6670 1gb Fanless? I'm undecided if it's better to wait a fanless model or take a HD5670 1gb Ultimate Fanless instead.

Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
Augh, this forum is such a disgusting mess. We need a WIKI or an open google doc spreadsheet, not a messy messy forum.
How cool would it be if you could just go to 1 website and find what's the fastest video card that's silent or at least quiet when idle.
I don't have 20 hours to research a card, let's use the power of the internet here:
Standard Google Documents
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... n_US#gid=0
Updated to the latest video cards. Knock yourself out.

Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
I'm not sure if this is the place to put this information but Sapphire has announced a new graphics card called R7 250 which is passively cooled.
Toms Hardware news article. The GPU aboard the card is clocked at 800 MHz. Aboard the card users will also find 1 GB of GDDR5 memory, which runs over a 128-bit wide memory interface at an effective speed of 4.5 GHz.
Sapphire's R7 250 Ultimate has support for Eyefinity, 4K screens, as well as AMD's 3D technology. Display outputs include a single Dual-Link DVI port, an HDMI 1.4a port, and a DisplayPort 1.2 port.
Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!
R7 250 is being tested to reach nearly the same results as a 7750. So nothing really new here, except some marketing guys creating a fuss about "new" AMD models.
